Great day out and even better meeting a few more members! And really chuffed to win this! Really made all the hard work seem worth it! Feel quite proud that I've taken a rough old £340 VR that was being sold as a donor car and turned it into something that can win a trophy![emoji4] Now I need more power![emoji16]

    November 2014 feature car.

So here is Novembers feature car. This is a personal favourite of mine and a true inspiration. The attention to detail on this car is unreal. It's latest makeover is somewhat controversial with the diehard fans but here at the VR6OC, we love it for its brashness and how much Dougie dared to be different. You will see from the spec list below that it's not just a show car but has all the credentials for the speed check list. Here are some answers from the man himself. The person behind the car. Hi guys, Here are some photos of Leo and his slow progress since coming off the road in September 2014! I hope you like!! Please see my instagram for more photos @emmacorradovr6 Here is Leo when I first brought him! One of the first things I did was completely strip and clean his interior. I then stripped his wheels to brighten him up abit! Then came Air I brought my air suspension from my friend off of his Corrado Then Leo was off the road His engine was then removed and then we found the gearbox problem! Very broken 3rd gear!! this is thr engine before painting here is the painted engine and new painted gearbox the engine is back in now but nowhere near road ready! So the engine is coming out again and we will get the body ready for a re spray, build a rollcage and shave the engine bay! If you have any images or advise for me when shaving your vr6 bay please contact me!! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Not been much to report lately. Got my oil feed and drain lines sorted. Had all my engine bits back from the powder coaters so I can start putting everything back together! Had my Brembo calipers done at the same time. I got a quote to have them refurbished by a well known caliper company and they quoted £250 to do the calipers. Extra if they had to replace seals etc.... I bought a new seal & bolt kit for £59 delivered. Came with lines, bleed nipples, Caps, bolts, seals & dust boots. The powder coaters charged me £20 a side to blast and coat them. Decals where £10 for 4 High Temp ones. So all in all I saved myself a few quid I think doing it myself. So armed with a brew made by the wife! I set about rebuilding them! Really happy with the way they have turned out and rebuilding them was a piece of piss I would strongly advise anyone to do their own before paying someone! Plenty of videos etc and it really is a simple process. Laters

Iv had an exciting week. It's back. Had a call from stealth last Friday to say it's ready. I rushed down and picked it up on the sat. When I got there Vince and John showed me around the car explaining what had been done.. The install looks great. As close to factory looking as you will get. You can tell a lot of time, effort and attention to detail has gone into the kit. The intercooler and pipe work are very stealthy. Vince started it up and the car settled into a perfect idle, the custom exhaust note suggests that there is something special about the car but isn't too loud or shouty.. Perfect! Vince told me to take it for a spin but warned me to be careful lol. I turned out of stealth straight behind a horse box.. Argg typical lol. I followed it for a few minutes at 30mph and the car drove just as before. However as soon as the horsebox turned off there was clear road ahead.. To be honest I needed an airfield... Now I have driven some fast cars 400bhp plus in the past but nothing that has felt like what happened next.. I gave it the full steam ahead command.. In a split second I felt the front end of the car raise slightly followed by a noise that sounded like a jet plane charging the runway, at that I was catapulted down the road, it was brutal. I shifted into third as the recirc valve gave a snarling chatter, i kept my foot planted the front tyres gave up trying to hold on as I lit them up.. I looked down and I was nearing 100mph at that I backed off.. The car had so much more to give. I got back and my face must have said it all as Vince and John just chuckled. I was told the car is capable of 400hp but I asked for it to be set around 360hp as that would be more than enough for me.. It made 375bhp and about the same in toque.. It feels more like 500bhp lol. I will get some pics up of the install soon... But cannot recommend this conversion enough.

Good evening Guys, Well its been a while since we featured a members car so getting back into the swing of things this is going to be one of many. If you've taken a shine or special interest in a members car like we at VR6OC did with this one and think there car would be worthy of a feature then please drop me a private message. This members car was picked for the shear dedication, effort, time, money and I guess many many man hours that has gone into the build. The build has been followed by myself and probably many of you and I can say without question this car is going to be a rocket when finished. So here goes...... The person behind this awesome car. Back from the dead........

Some of you will know me from on here and VR60c meets years ago, some of you won't (think my original VR6oc Number was 007!) Had a lot of people ask and PM me where this cars been of late, so thought I'd add this in here. After being off the road for 5 years due to a nut coming loose from the Shrick divertor valve and going through the engine, totally destroying my low mileage mint engine I lost interest in the money pit and had other projects on the go, so the car sat in the garage for 5 years generally being in the way! So after a full Low Comp engine rebuild, Stage 2 Vortech, (The Z-Engineering chargers now on my Mk2) new interior etc. Thought it was a good day to have a little play with the VR and made a little vid just to prove I still have the car! Still running it in and as you can see the custom exhaust still has a bit of oil in it from when the last engine went bang! Hoping to get to a meet or 2 this year in the Mk3 or the Mk2. Can't thank Jon and Ryan at VRT in Slough (VRTonline.co.uk) enough for all their help and taking the petrol and matches out of my hands a few times over the last year! Regards, Simon.

What did you do to your VR6 today?

Bolted a Rotrex supercharger to it! [emoji16] It's a long story which involves me getting very annoyed with the VF charger leaking oil after waiting 2 months for a belt, fellow member D11PS being a good salesman (well telling me the rotrex sounds like a low flying fighter jet[emoji15]) and then going over to pick up the new charger last night with Bealieboy and coming back with the charger and a hangover for Saturday morning! It's ok Dips was buying, he was feeling flush after I'd just paid the erm.....£200 for the rotrex! Nice pub by the way Dips! [emoji106]

Hi guys, I'm bluemotions other half (and mechanic!) and while I haven't been on this forum or owned a vr for a long time. I've been in the vw scene for about 16 years. Over the last few years I've seen it get over populated by dumb kids who think dangerous mods to their car is fine because it looks 'dope', or elitist cliques who won't give you the time of day if you've spent less than 15k on your motor. I was a little apprehensive about coming along as I didn't really know anyone who was going. I can't tell you how pleasing it was to go to a meet where you can walk up to anyone and start up a friendly conversation. It felt very much like old times again, times I thought had long gone. So thanks to those who organised it and well done you lot on being a throughly decent bunch of people :-)

January 2015 car of the month!

Welcome to the first of this years "car of the month". This one goes to Richie Caldwell or richierich37 as he's known on the forum. I'm sure some of you would have already seen the build thread on Richies car, and if you have you'll be able to appreciate the time, effort, patience and not mention money he's ploughed into building a simplistic but truly one off mulberry highline! From the seats and interior, right down to the sump, no stone has been left unturned, and Richie himself admits one of his most favoured features is in fact the painted sump!! I told him he was wrong and it is actually the tartan booster seat [emoji6] All things considered it's only taken him around 12 months to build. Here's a bit from the man himself Vr6oc car of the month The person behind the car. Name: Richie Caldwell. Forum user name: Richierich37. Age: 38. Occupation: Senior Contracts Manager. Location: Glasgow. Hobbies: None......now the kids are here!!! Likes: Eating Sweets. Dislikes: Liars. Car questions First car?: 85 VW Polo breadvan. Current car?: 64 VW Mk7 Golf GTD. Dream car?: 57 VW Beetle. Other cars owned?: Mk1,2,3,4,5 Golfs, VW Splittie, Vw Passat CC, VW Beetle, Subaru Impreza, Seat Ibiza, Mercedes E, CLK there are plenty more but my old brain is hurting trying to remember!!! What got you into Dubs?: Santa Pod VW festivals. Best feature on your car?: Tartan. Future modifications?: None, I'm done with cars!!!! Favourite other member's car?: Dougies mellow yellow. General Stuff 1. Blonde or Brunette? Brunette. 2. Takeaway or home cooked? Takeaway. 3. Tea or Coffee? Tea. 4. Euro look or USA look? Hmmmm! 5. Soap or Documentary? Documentary. 6. Mates or Dates? Mates. 7. Pubs or Clubs? House! 8. Sun seeker or Thrill seeker? None I'm afraid!!! 9. Lager or Spirits? Sober for 8 years!!! 10. Dogs or Cats?: Dogs. 11. Night out or Couch potato? Couch potato. 12. All Go or All Show? Bit of both would be nice. 13. Winter or Summer? Summer. 14. Tattoos or Piercings? Tattoos. 15. Football or Rugby? Football. List of modification: Panels, Paint, Engine bay, Brakes, Suspension, Exhaust, Seats, Wheels etc etc etc........ Your experience of the car(ups and downs) Tbh a pretty straight forward restoration, proper good base and have built a simple car. Airlift V2 controller packed in along with the manifold 2 weeks after it was fitted, now one of the struts has broke!!!! When asked if there was anything he wasn't happy with about the whole build, his answer was "it doesn't get used enough!" Point well made I think. You've built a cracking car Richie, well done mate.

It is absolutely brilliant! Still using any excuse just to go out and drive the thing some blurb and pics: For the benefit of some who asked about the stealth turbo: Firtly, I must say the level of service is top notch and I can't recommend the stealth guys enough. Vince and co spent a long time explaining everything that had been done, the reasons why and how to maintain the vehicle, recommending the best plugs, oil, etc. it was obvious that a hell of a lot of work had gone in to the car, and IMO it represented excellent value for money if you're seriously considering turbo but don't feel confident enough to DIY. As for the car itself, well now I completely understand why some of you guys chose to turbo your VR6s, I've never felt such brutal power in a car before, it was disgusting and after the initial shock I was laughing all the way home. Setting off for the first time was driven off boost due to congestion, here it behaved exactly like a normal VR6 should and if taken easy I think the mpg would actually be pretty reasonable. The helix clutch judders ever so slightly when pulling away, but I'm told that this is perfectly normal (it isn't enough to be a hindrance though). The custom exhaust note is certainly quite unique and hinted that something was a bit different with the car. As soon as the road cleared it was time to see what this thing was capable of. From second gear I floored it, and held on for dear life! It felt like the car had been attached to a giant slingshot and catapulted down the road - everything around me just became a blur as I went in to warp speed. I was worried that the lack of Racelogic would see me endlessly wheelsplinning, but the LSD was more than enough in the conditions to put the power comfortably down. Third gear was even more savage and from here on it was just relentless, never ending power. The exhaust when opened up sounds like nothing else, and the recirc valve gives a god almighty whoosh when you let off the throttle. What goes up, must come down though, and a random emergency stop showed me how good the tarox brakes were. I would definitely recommend them to anyone as the stopping power is almost as brutal as the acceleration. After paying the final balance it was a 2+ hour journey home, which only re-highlighted how fast the car was. Even in 5th, it pulls extremely hard and it was a matter of seconds before I was at license losing speeds. Unfortunately I didn't really come across anything exotic to test the car against, but I'm not the kind of guy to provoke anyone on the road anyway. At 70mph you can drive off boost too so as not to empty the fuel tank too quickly! Through the twisty roads the LSD just made the car feel so much tighter and controlled, a definitely worthwhile upgrade. That's all I can really say for now, but for anyone considering getting this done - you will not regret it. Yes it's a fair bit of money, but definitely worth every penny. Nick

    Ultimate Dubs club stand

We did not announce the lineup for many reasons, although we did have a club stand indoors at Ultimate Dubs. We have been let down so badly by people who initially put their name down and then thought having a show and shine space was better, very disappointing as the position it puts the club in is not a good situation at all! We have lost count at the number of people wo committed to supporting the club and then dropping out, even as late as 2 days before the event, which as you can imagine is very difficult to fill those spaces. It has gotten so bad this year we are seriously considering not doing the show again as this year has not given the club a good reputation. @michael5556 has done a great job in trying to get people together but due to the amount of wasting of our time it really has left a bitter taste in our mouths. I cannot stress enough that if you commit to support the club you are doing just that, ditching us for going to show and shine after you committed to displaying with us is frustrating and puts us in a difficult position with the event organizers if we are turning up with a low number of cars, and not likely to be selected next year for an indoor spot. If we do decide to attend next year there will be a STRICT criteria on who will be allowed to put their car forward, these are some of the ideas I have had...... 1) The car must be built! - We have had too many people who wanted to display their car and then decide it will not be ready in time. 2) You pay us the cost of a ticket price for yourself to secure your place on the stand - This will be refunded after the event, and is non returnable should you decide to withdraw your application. 3) Accommodation must be booked at the venue unless staying at an alternative near by friends / your own home over the course of the weekend - People who are serious about attending the event would have planned accommodation well in advance due to popularity. 4) You should be a registered forum member - Facebook is full of hopers and dreamers, the people who are serious about supporting the club will be active on the forum. Big thanks to those who did stick to their word and support the club and a big shout out to @michael5556 for doing his best in pulling off the display that we did have It would be a real shame if we didn't do a club stand next year as we have been doing the show for over 10 years, as you can appreciate we do this all in our time and we need our members support and co-operation but the stress of trying to organize this has made us question is it worth it. Really hope you guys decide to have an input on this as it is you that make the club and your input is vital to its success.
