Old US punk... being an ex skater i grew up with Bad Religion, Black Flag, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr ... moving on to Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and the baggy scene for a bit, then grunge with Nirvana ( luckily saw them twice at Reading and Hummingbird brum), Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, Melvins etc... but nowadays I like pretty much anything!! but on my iphone i currently have tunes ranging from Metallica to Mumford and Sons, Pixies to Plan B (Early plan B not the soul stuff), Queens of the Stone Age and then Pixie Lott and Taylor Swift thanks to my 6 year old daughter!! 5. Unsurprisingly it is the usual suspects putting comments on this thread!! Pete, Lukey, Daverse, Daveyboy and Nex... Where is everybody else?!
  6. 1) Are we doing anything wrong? - No 2) What is preventing you from contributing to the forum - I like to think In my short time here I have contributed a bit 3) What is preventing you from attending our events - 2 things... The lack of a running VR6 and family commitments ( 2yrs and 5yrs) very demanding children!! 7. Trying to remove an aftermarket alarm from the VR and just to make sure I am not removing it and its gonna cause problems, I am chasing the wires back from the splice to see whats connected to the alarm before removing.. I have come to the Central Locking Pump in the boot after following the wires along the sill (Drivers side) under the back seats and then into the boot (under the carpet) and then to the central locking module and Bi Pump... My question is this.... Why are there 11 wires connected to the module? 8 wires run along the route I have just described and then 2 more wires are splic

  10. A bit of progress on the strip down front... Cue loads of pics (For my own reference but may also be handy for anybody looking for info on bits and pieces on the golf vr6) Removed the O/S/R wheel arch trim and found this Its going to need a whole load of fabrication on the inner arch and then a replacement panel to cover the arch and petrol flap innards Also removed the front wings to continue the hunt for the dreaded rust and YES, I definitely found it... Where the wing meets the sill... And a pic of the N/S Sill and again .... more rust! And an overview of the N/S inner arch... N/S
  11. Bloody Cast Marks and the strive for perfection!! Before: After: I need a Dremel because my fingers are killing!!
  12. Right .... Power tool purchased, flap wheel in drill and after a bit of work I had this... (After 80 grit) I was quite happy with it and it looked good after the 80 grit but something was niggling me about the hidden bits and the bits that usually get painted... There were cast marks, pitted parts and generally poor looking bits so I decided to go balls deep!!... So I now have this small part but I think it looks good.... Just six more to go and the sides, underside, middle etc etc etc :S from this ( but other side of the manifold) to this.... Back in the garage after dinner to carry o
  13. Last night was spent removing more bits from the engine: Fuel Rail. Injectors, lower intake manifold, Alternator, Alt and Power Steering bracket, Cam cover. Removed so I can look at getting them polished or plated... Local company to me in Wolves have said bring them down and they will price it up... But I thought I'd have a go and see how hard it can really be!! So armed with 60,120,180,240,320 & 400 grit sandpaper, a sanding block and some WD40 I got to work... The start: From another angle: And then I started rubbing and then I rubbed some more and carried on for two hours with 60 gri
  14. Oh....!! And the earth from the coolant fan can also just attach to the "new" made body earth on the chassis leg ( the wire that would usually run from the coolant fan to the neg terminal on the battery) Cheers again
