  1. one of our members has one on ebay at moment if you go to the ebay links section!!!!
  2. Is it auto or manual reset on that fault light?

    heater switch

where is the resistor on MK3? My MK2 had a similar fault in as much as the fan only worked on fan speed 3, found the resistor was nackered, but the resistor was mounted on the fan motor. Not a lot changes at VW so I imagine the resistor is in the same place so although this would explain your fan speed problem it would not explain the heat.
  4. Ripped off!!! Quoted price is gospel unless they phone you first. For example, what would happen if you only got the money for the quoted price, and not a penny more? Where ever i have taken my car I always get a phone call first, however dodgy the place is. However i can see why they did what they did. ABS rotors are a pain to remove and can get corroded on and f***** on the way off. Also wheel bearing, I generally replace them as a matter of course when doing rear discs. From experience they are a pain to do aswell as the bolts are a proper mare to get undone, and in my case ended up getting
  5. Got their discs and pads on the back, seem ok. I may be wrong but discs are discs, unless you spend lots of pennies and get fancy ones. Pads I got PAGID FAST ROAD pads, they seem ok too. I had some cheapo ones from PARTCO on my MK2. That was not so clever, they never wore out, but you could not skid the car!!!! and MK2 didnt have ABS!!! They were crap, simply didnt work!!! So go for it, my branch is pretty helpful and they recommended the Pagid pads after i explained my concerns about cheap pads.
  6. Most lock up for a few hours then you get another three goes, and so on. Done it in my nissan van and had to wait till the next morning for tunes, not a happy bunny!!!! Like he said go to stealers. If you have the registration of the car it came with they can do it from that. Thats all they asked me for anyway. High security!!! Nick a stereo then phone the dealers and all they want to know is the plates of the car you broke into!! Clever eh??!?!
  7. Think i would agree with that diagnosis, not a lot else watery on that end!
  8. Nutter!!!! Must have been at least 80mph!!!
  9. End of the day its a 1.8!!!! turbo and stuff will make it faster, but you are limited. In my humble opinion there is no substitute for CC`s. If you start with 2800 you are already miles ahead of 1800!

OOOOPs! The driver still clutched the wheel even after it rolled! I would have curled up in a ball!
  11. Gimme gimme gimme! Goota be the charged one or the W8! Trying unsuccessfully to convince the mrs to get an old STORM instead of the Golf. She says they are ugly?!! WTF! Rado just looks the part more, Golf is a bit girly!
  12. try FASTLANE INTERNATIONAL, done some wheels with them had the best price, they sub the work out to other companies. No account needed.
  13. Which left hand side? Left from inside or outside the car?
  14. Scare the poor bloke why dont you!!!! I dont know this for fact but i would imagine there are relays for the fan somewhere, as those sensors are not gonna take that kind of load, so the relay/s would also be worth checking.
  15. gees man, attention to detail!! would never have spotted it!! I was looking for missing brake discs, or something!! Can barely see it even when i am looking for it!!!
  16. Or maybe the temperature sensors on the thermostat housing? or just dodgy connectionss?
  17. From a standing start i lost to one of these up to 90 then i started reeling him in!
  18. No expert, but are you sure its the clutch not a gear linkage problem?
  19. COrrect me if I am wrong here. ODB1 has got a ISV, but ODB2 does not. SO you will need to check which you have. Near the throttle body if you have one. Think there are posts with pics if you are in a hurry. Do a search over the past 3 months i think there are some.
  20. I replaced all the o rings, there are three for the sensors and blank, one between the two halves of the housing, one between housing and block, and one on the housing where it connects to the plastic pipe that goes off to the left. Yeah it does seem that way, there are a few weak spots. oil leaks around oil cooler, coil packs, ignition switch, from what i can tell so far!
  21. You can tell if the system is short of gas quite simply. run engine and aircon. then identify the aircon pump and there should be two pipes attached to it. One will go to the Condenser, which will be with the radiator and the other one will come from the cabin. This is the one you are after, run the air con for a few minutes, then feel this pipe, if there is the correct amount of gas in the air con this pipe should get cold, cold enough for it to get condensated, or at least cold enough to feel cold. If it dont get cold it short of gas!
  22. It runs whenever the ignition is on, and also for a while after. dunno how long though. there are a variety of opinions on when its supposed to run.
  23. Haynes dont do one, however i am told there is a Bentley manual, probably get one off the bay.
  24. Miles per tank is not really very accurate, cos we all fill up at a different point, I fill up whenever it hits red and then another 40 miles, others fill up 20 miles before it hits red. Better to use MPG.
  25. I think mine has a bung in it too, Lambda probe is at the fron, the bung is at the back. Supposed to be there. No problem unless the restt is falling apart.
