  1. Yeah mine gets a bit rattly and rough too when the mrs does the school run for a few weeks. Quick blast down the M11 and its lovely and smooth and quiet again though!
  2. Unless I am very mistaken it looks like the Auxillary water pump, i am sure i will be corrected if that is not the case. Is it near the coil pack under the silver plastic cover that the HT leads run in?
  3. Think mine is the VR6 Grandad!! Just turned 148000!
  4. I am in norwich. So quite close, but I dont have a problem at the moment. Just handy to know for future reference, Workshops are merchants, charge an hour to read it then you gotta have the work done then have it checked and reset, so it ends up costing like nearly £100 just for them to plug in!! So that way I could have the gear for half that! Its still all a bit foreign to me though. So to recap I would need : Dual-K (KKL) Vag-Com Interface VW Audi USB, Download the VAGCOM software free of charge and then get my car into my lounge next to the PC and I would be up and running?
  5. Lot of money aint it? Is there not a cheaper way of checking/clearing fault codes?

    Gove box!

Got a MK3 VR6 Golf. Wondered if anyone ever tried and failed or succeeded in fitting a glove box to one? Mine just has a pony shelf, where everything falls off if you nail it off the lights! and a big airbag sign where the glove box supposed to be! Ideally I would want to be keeping an airbag there, but not sure if you can have both?!
  9. try some fairy liquid, very good lubricant!!!! or just plain water or antifreeze.....
  10. You should try GSF, they have a genuine BOSCH pump for £59.90+ VAT. Getting one next week as mine is leaking too!
  11. got some nasty unbranded crap on my vr6 and i can feel them loosing traction in 3rd gear if i give it full beans!!! so dont go there!! the jerk who owned it before me put them on and they are almost brand new!!
  12. its a trade off though aint it?! do you wanna roar off the lights in the wet and not spin, but buy a new set every six months or do you wanna spin all over the place in the dry but never buy another set of tyres again? i had some dunlops (£45 ea from kwik fit) on my old mk2 1.8 and they wore out after 10k but i never spun the wheels or locked up.
  13. mine is on 147000, still all gravy baby, engine is good but all the rubbers and plastics are perished and its costing me a fortune! think it am have it under control now though! over a grand later i would hope so anyway! saw one at 158k but it had a hole in the footwell!!!! some dodgy dealer tried selling it to me, what a c**t!! the hole even had a chalk line around it where the rotten bit was!
  14. Correct me if i am wrong but, i didnt bleed mine at all. Had the top radiator hose off and filled till it started comin out then quickly connected it. then filled again till expansion tank was maxed. ran it with cap off and watched it come through the side of the expansion tank and kept checking the level. waited till the stat opened, then put the cap on and take it sit and watch for a few mins while the system pressurises and you run around nervously checking for leaks, then take it for a gentle run around the block. let it cool for a bit and then check the level again and check for leaks aga
  15. Trigonometry sleep with your sister or a man?
  16. Great!! Will check the small print on the bottle!! if its the wrong stuff i will change it when i look into the electric pump. The temperatures are what i thought, i had my oil up to 110C once or twice but that was the height of british summer and i was in a hurry! how many miles do these engines do? mine is at 150k just curious how far others have gone?
  17. Replaced my leaky thermostat housing today, all three parts and all the rubbers and a new thermostat. Got rid of the nasty brown gunk it had as coolant and put some nice blue stuff in. Now where it used to run at anywhere between 60C and 90C coolant temp it is now permanent at 90C. it was about 10C ambient here today. which is good i think? However reason i question it is that now the oil temp is also up from around 70-80C to 80-90C, normal running. Havent let her go yet cos i wanted to see how she was after me messing with her, but from experience if i do give her a hard time the oil temp wil
