  1. Could be any number of things. Have you had your codes read and reset?
  2. Sorry to hijack! I have the same problem on mine, it started off OK but getting a proper pain now!! Been putting it off cos of the "lengthy process", but i heard about the easy way too! Can you tell me more about the drill process please?
  3. it may have been, but it had vw stamp on it. thought low twemp stats were non genuine??
  4. Well, not sure about stat got it from Stealers with new housing, but it is 90 on display, wheras old one i think was jammed open as it was about70 in summer and barely that all winter. But yes you are probably right about the difference between actual temp and dispaly.
  5. Inside the hoses dont seem too bad, other thing was the stat was running it a bit cool, bout 70C, now its got a genuine 90C stat in. Guess with the heat and clean antifreeze it is just slowly cleaning itself.
  6. Thats what I thought. The chap who owned it before me got it with FVWSH, but then he had it for 2/3 years and by the looks of things it probably never even had the bonnet up!
  7. Without discount it is bout £12, as I got one earlier today! also see my post RE: Strangled cat! As I replaced my belt for maintenance and a couple of weeks later it done the tesion pulley in. I checked it when I replaced it and it seemed fine, so it may be worthwhile doing. New tensioner assembly was £56 plus VAT!!!!
  8. Having recently had troubles with my Engine leaking water i have inspected it regularly to make sure it stays full. Anyway I flushed it all out with running water till it came out clear, and filled with antifreeze 50/50 but now about a hundred miles later it is back to its usual nasty brown colour. Any ideas? Is it just self cleaning and in need of another system flush, or am I mising something? :? Thanks for any help.
  9. Dont know the details, but theres a post about removing plugs and bridging the terminals. Try doing a search.
  10. Found me troubles! Tensioner pulley is melted!! Found this although its a bit late for me!!! REMOVING A VR6 SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER AND LUBRICATING THE TENSIONER PULLEY BEARING The following outlines the procedure for removing the serpentine belt tensioner from a VR6 engine and lubricating the tensioner pulley bearing. It is common for the bearing in the pulley to dry out, causing the bearing to become very noisy when the engine is running and eventually, to fail. The lubrication of the bearing as preventative maintenance or at the first sign of noise can significantly extend the lifetime o
  11. http://www.braedel.com/blog/PermaLink,guid,40766b6a-7b5c-4da0-89c6-f4f90033d561.aspx This is the mutts!!! !lol
  12. May be able to help. What are you interested in? PM me with details and I could send you some prices.
  13. yeah, including drain and filling and flushing it took me about 2 hours! Pump pliers and Allen Keys and youre off!
  14. Changed my "Fan" Belt the other week, now I got a noise from that area of the engine. Squealing noise, like dry bearings !grr . After listening it sounds like the tensioning pulley is to blame. Any ideas? Strip and lubricate/Chuck in the bin and replace? Cost and supplier? Thanks
  15. Well done mate, saved yourself £70!!!!

    Idle speed

Yeah mine is restricted to 6200rpm, but it idles around 600 to 700 rpm, depending on its mood, start higher when cold and calms down after a few minutes.
  18. Maybe you should try this!!!!!!!! I am not sure if this belongs here or in Jokes and Humour?!?!? http://www.turbonator.com
  19. Not sure. Mine leaks a little around the joints on the pump. I asked about it on here too, thought there may be a seal replacement job, but apparently not. If it works it may be worth while stripping it and trying a bit of sealant compound or high temp silicone around the seal. Let me know how you get on, as I gotta do mine as soon as it warms up a bit outside!!!
  20. cant find it on gsf site either but they defo do them, usually got them on the shelf, got a catalogue with part number if required. probably similar price.
  21. well it aint a genuine exhaust but it is a cheap imitation, nothing special though, just sounds a bit rough thats all! doesnt do it when i am driving only when i rev it for show. yeah they do roar nicely!!!
  22. GSF do a Bosch one for a good price, Bosch is the same as a genuine one.
  23. Got an interesting one for you! My VR runs pucker all the time now, but was showing my baby off the other day and with a warm engine i put my foot on the throttle and revved the engine to about 4 1/2k in neutral, but on the way back down it seems to splutter and fart and sound like it wants to back fire. any ideas or do they all do this? !dodge standard VR, with new leads plugs and coil, before you ask! !lol
  24. usually pretty cheap. easy to do yourself!!!! remove them and take them to a friendly garage and they will make them for you, then jjust refit and bleed! charged me a fiver for one i had corroded.
