  1. And its more expensive to fix when all goes wrong!! Glad you like the new car..bet you cant get enough of the sound!! I wonder who has my old VR now...!! *-)
  2. Yea its the older 2000 1.8t (the AGU engine). This one is fun to drive, will be even better once Revo do their magic, should be just short of 200bhp then. Not to bad for £400 for the chip.
  3. Will let do - will still come on the forum to see whats up! I pick the 1.8t up Friday evening so not had a good drive of it yet, but when I took it for a test drive it was really nice, put a smile on my face when the turbo kicked in....I was pleasantly suprised. Didnt feel like any loss in power at all, although I miss the sound of the VR6..Cant beat it!!
  4. Hi guys, I have just sold the VR, will be going this weekend, will be sad to see it go..its been a good 3 years!! Now I move over to the golf Mk4 1.8t hopefully I wont miss the VR too much!! :S

    Dilemma

I was lucky enough to get mine with air con and a sunroof! Duncs, from chester central. Where you from? No doubt you will have seen me about at some point!!
  7. I generally get about 22-27 mpg [my b/friend says I have a heavy right foot! ] although often get a lot lower as I dont use the car for long distance at the moment. When I do I once saw 39 mpg but have never seen anymore than that!

    Dilemma

Go for the grey one, they are really nice! I was in the same sort of situation as you when I got my VR 3 years ago, my MK2 head gasket had just blown (again) and I needed a car fast, really wanted a black one or a mulberry highline, but they were very expensive at the time and the only cheap ones were not well looked after! I ended up with the pearl dragon green (although I never liked the green before then) but I wouldnt change the car now for the world! It has been a gr8 car ever since!!!And the colour is really nice when polished! Best to get a decent VR in a different colour than a nice
  9. Looks really mint, the interior is nice. Its good to see some other girls on here with tastefully modified cars!
  10. There arent really that many I am afaid (I live in Chester) Could try Central VW in Ellesmere Port, they are VW specialists, they can be quite expensive though. I usually take my car to Awesome for a service. Alternatively, there is a guy named Phil at Hillcrest Motors in Holywell who is really good with VW, I have taken my car there and never had a prob..he used to own a VW garage in Northop. Hope that helps! :-p
  11. Yes you were right!! It is the water pump (again-only had a new one under 2 years ago!)!! Getting a new one fitted as we speak! Fingers crossed that will be it for now!
  12. Thanks! Will get it checked and let you know if its something else!
  13. Sorry, should have said left from the inside of the car, the side where the airfilter etc sits. As far as I know all gaskets were renewed!
  14. My car was having the same prob Had no idea what it was but I was really embarassed, my car sounded like a giant hoover or something. :$ +o( The head gasket went the week after and I replaced the thermostat and got the head done and it hasnt happened since, although it is still leaking a bit of water from somewhere!! :-(
