maf sensor coming loose and coming off completely
Nerih replied to jezmoz's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
on mine, it doesnt have the rubber boot, but there is a metal paperclip like device that goes round the clip and has two prongs at either side, and when it goes over the maf it clips it into position, might be worth getting hold of a new plug and swapping the clips? -
i dont see how you can charge over 5k for a vr6 even if its a highline, unless its modded or very low mileage.

run it properly for a few hours on the motorway, its REALLY milky then dont, but if its a little it could be its just not been driven for a while and has been left out in the wet, i think ive seen small bits of milky oil on my cap a while back in december when it was very cold. its possible its the head gasket, the easiest way to tell is to stick an emissions tester into the water resivroir and check for fumes in there. if its never been thrashed and has low mileage id say its unlucky, not impossible, but unlikely. my oil before getting it changed used to go up to 108, after putting in a diffe

schrick manifold (if that how u spell it)

yeah i feel a bit short handed with all the power of my vr6 above 2500 rpm, it would be nice for fuel consumption to have a bit more low end grunt, but im not sure how the flapper would do with 14 psi when i upgrade it, maybe anorak can tell me, since he runs high boost with Water injection.... how does your flapper look? is it pitted becuase of the water injection? -
sorry to see you go mark, i remember getting wasted at santa pod by you, what a good sport you are m8. Ade, you can get a trimetallic gasket from c2 motorsports through ultimatetune, but make sure you get the one with the correct compression ratio, if you're current one reduces it. what PSI does yours run on? mine is just under 10, because of some belt slippage

ben car is lookign good m8. no shcrick wont fit, find an odb1 one.

yes the RH alloys come with 'spacer/adaptors' which reduce the offset to 35 and change the stud pattern to 5x112. The one thing you must get with the alloys, is the special small head bolts that go into the adapters, they are like normal m8 bolts but have half their head chopped so they fit nicely in the adaptor holes, normal bolts will stick out, and be dangerous, and cause vibration. can i give you a suggestion, the RH splits are nice, but take a look at schmidt alloys, their 3 piece alloy is much stronger (from the video's it seems as though you cant kerb them lol) and look good and are mor

i used to find my gear lever felt 'loaded' when i changed gear at high rpm's, it was becuase of my engine mounts, now with the supercharger i find its important to chang the engine mounts. I think you can buy quick shift and weighted kits for the gear levers but am unsure if that would help.

nice car m8

if you've got an odb2 already, then i think itll make a difference if its overbored, if youve got an odb1, it wont work without changing the engine harness, ecu, transponder and keys.

bmc cda cool air feed where, how and what?
Nerih replied to jezmoz's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
yep thats exactly what myself and ultimatetune did to mine, decided not to remove it, but to move it over to the standard locating holes on the passenger side of the car. -
How long does the standard cat last on a Golf VR6?

grats m8, funny, today i finally sorted my car out too, im so pleased for you, i remember how calm you were when it happened. when do you think you'll have the wing and bumper? they arent too hard to source m8, excellent, i cant wait to see it again.

BMC CDA fitted (partially), tested, and ...
Nerih replied to Craig's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
i used the air intake boot from a bmw 3 series, fits perfectly. -
disconnect the ECU and spray electrical contact cleaner in there, just check for corrosion on the plgs, but you're ideas are pretty good, no reason why ecu would cause problems when its cold and then rectify when warm.

yeah, pete tells me he's heard many bad stories about vr's that were supercharged but didnt have engine mods to support them...
-
stealth have ordered me to get water injection under 300bhp. To be honest, 300bhp is a good mark to start thinking about the mods. but.. its going to be down to how your engine handles it, does your lambda still work, is your engine odb1, is it an ag or bm ecu, has it got good compression, is throwing up any intermittant faults, is your gearbox's syncro on its way out, have you had the diff pins changed to bolts, do you want a quaiffe to keep you on the road, do you need a 6 speed box, do you want forged pistons and rods to stop you from blowing up, are you going to need a spacer gasket, whil

schrick manifold (if that how u spell it)
Nerih replied to petervr6's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
they make a difference at the low end, i was in a friends schricked vr6 a few days ago and it feels faster than my charged car until about 3000rpm, its good in town becuase you have more low end torque, it really does sort the vr6's torque curve out.
