  1. dubsingh, try 16v cold plugs, problem is most likely you sparkies are overheating.
  2. i had some wax like substance that had leaked out of my boot cavity on a mk2, and i took the back of a kitchen sponge to it (the green part) and it made swirl marks in the paint, i agree with justin, its fucking easy to damage this shit.
  3. saw rs4 18's replicas on a golf mk3 with fk coilovers, didnt see tyres, but i dont think the arches were pulled...i think itll be close though.

looks great, im looking to do the bumpers rather than the wiper though, your car is awesome looking btw.
  5. small grille blow indicators in front bumper, it should be cliped into the grille, mine has worked since the day i bought the car, they shouldnt be hard to replace.
  6. check the ignition system, basically, spark plugs, ht leads, coil pack, medium voltage wires to coilpack, and ESPECIALLY ECU pins that carry marginal current to the coilpack, they always corrode!

its very good, but i want to try something different, i'd keep it if i could but ive been made a good offer on px. even though im selling it, i still have a list of things im doing to it, the px price is quite good, so im not bothered. only, stage 2, wipers, hids and a bit of paintwork to do. as for the bumpers, they need a good respray anyway, so i figure while im there i might as well have some smoothing done.

i think having the rear and front bumpers smoothed might be the next thing to do, they seems really nice smoothed.
  10. yes, best of luck, hope it gets sorted properly and cheaply!
  11. i thought they were all lhd already....do you mean rhd? i know a friend who did a rhd conversion on a rallye, it involved new dash, new brake system new steering rack/pinion and new columns, different pedal box (dunno if its required but he did it)...so those things are required but im not sure how much extra 'stuff' was needed, seems like an interesting project for and rare lhd only car.

did you have the number plate recess smoothed too ?
  13. when my gasket blew on my 4cylinder vw, it cost 400 to get it reskimmed and running like new, that included chemical bathing the head, of course a vr will cost a fair bit more, but i think you can get it done for 600, my garage here in london will do my head work and clutch for 800 which is very good, but then they've worked on our families car for yonks, i even met one of the mechanics at santapod when i was up there for the gti festival... find yourself a decent mechanic find out whats wrong, if anything, hell it could be something simple . if in doubt book it in at stealth, vince will let y
  14. 120 degrees water and oil temperature, you've probably warped something inside m8, maybe your oil intake has fallen off and thats whats tapping! seriously, get it checked out asap, those are SERIOUSLY high temperatures.... oil 120 i can understand, but water at 120 is very high...

pvw in 2004 had a mk3 with a modified m4 aero wiper, its possible, and i wanted to see if i could possibly do it, when it rains its still going to get a lot of rain on th rear, i use the car quite a bit as a daily driver as do my family, so i can't take off the wiper, but i'm interested in finding a decent alternative...

  17. the thing that is offputting is the large number of holes, the real bbs ones dont have so many holes for studs, you can instantly tell a copy becuase itll have generic stud patterns
  18. even if you did m8, its your car to do with as you please , on the rare occasion i have gone up to 3000rpm before my water gate has got to the middle, sometimes you can help it, you need to overtake or something, its bad if you do it all the time i guess.

hahahhahaha i was hoping you'd notice that . pardon me, but you have a nice rear end hehehehe
  20. not a good idea to boot it from cold, but its probably the engine running on rich (as stated previously), the o2 sensor hasnt warmed up, so the car is dumping a fair amount of fuel in, it make it feel quite torquey to start with even if your not ragging it, just pootling around.
  21. hmm, i would check the oil filler cap for milky residue, if there is, then you know the head is leaking, look out the back exhaust when its warm, if its steaming/white fumes, its gone. could be a seperate problem m8 ;(. but if its overheated, it might of knackered the headgasket, or the headgasket might of been leaking, hence the overheating lol . the oil light is to do with oil pressure, not oil level, so what that indicates, is that when you go round a corner, the oil presure drops, this is probably becuase the oil level is so low, that the oil moves to the side of the sump and you lose pres

i think a completed smoothed rear end is good, bumpers the lot (maybe leave the spoiler), and then add a colour coded votex rear splitter, to finish it off.
