  1. vr has more ft/lbs than a standard civic, but i find the civic has better gearing and revs so much more, so usually beats you on the gear changes. remember those cars as standard make 200bhp, a tuned vr6 will make that much, but if your comparing it should be stock for stock, the type r wins.

    Fuel Economy

16.1 worst, calculated 26.9 on motorway coming home...since my mpg display isnt correct becuase of large injectors.
  3. if you want to win against most modern hatch backs, get a supercharger, before i got the charger, i always lost to type r, my car had exactly 176bhp and 174 ft/lbs, i feel the sprint from 50-70 was where it was very quick.
  4. ive seen mk4 loo, with xenon look projectors, 1 single round indictor and a a signle round spot like fog lamp, either way you have to run the indictor/fog loom to the headlamps as these accessories arent usually supplied with O.E fittings.
  5. you can fit more in a 5 door more easily!
  6. he'll leave you for dead, more like he'll be dead, i think you should compare a mk1 golf with a nova, or a mk2 golf...you can drop in vr6's into a mk2 golf, supercharge them, turbo them, the chasis will take 300bhp no problem... there is a mk1 golf with 550bhp with nos and what not, nova's fall apart with that kind of power im sure.
  7. right, i had this problem, vince at stealth fixed it. 1. while the car is runinng, using plastic pliers pull out each spark plug from the coil pack and remove it, do you notice a change in engine RPM (its NOTICABLE!), be careful, you dont want to get shocked, do it in the dry in a garage (wear rubber shoes and gloves if your scared). 2. check the maf is plugged in, this is the the bit next to the belts, it has a pipe that goes into the back of the engine (a big air pipe), you can see the maf housing, it is connected inbetween the pipe work from the airbox to the throttle body, its plugged into
  8. well from what vince has told me, the back pressure helps low end torque, which is where most people drive, the s/c only comes in above 3000rpm and builds to the red line, where backpressure is not wanted...to have the best of both id remove the cat and go for 3....just to maintain some low end torque.....which is where the vr6 is poor anyways, without a shrick.
  9. agreed with m.vr6, maf on intake side of charger is better...250bhp out of a vr6 would need 6psi, i cant remember what the rallye specs are. m.vr6 cdan you possible take a sound clip of your charger, mine is quite noisy at idle....
  10. he's often wrong about cars anyways, he siad the TT would be a flop and he said the cayenne was shit too...both cars have been a sucess. tbh, the vr6 hasn't been a sucess, its been a seller, no way did it sell as much as the mk1 gti or (less) the mk2 gti's... i bought my car off of a granddad who had bought it new.
  11. mulberry highlinnes will be the rarest probably hence the most valuable - ups this is has already been said...!
  12. how are they different in maf placement if you say both palce maf before the charger
  13. i dont know anyone with the AMS kit, can i suggest you visit http://www.gti-vr6.net/library/EngineFuelSystem_index.html#TurbosSuperchargersNOxetc and read some of the AMS reviews.
  14. maybe its just the weight distribution is not perfect.
  15. brilliant, just need to check they will fit, since et 60 fits perfectly with 25mm adaptors, i think i'll have to be a bit careful. im looking for 15's for the winter, just for comfort, drivability and so i dont shag up my lovely RH alloys.
  16. the odb guide is now available at http://www.amin.cc/pdf/odb.pdf
  17. i dont think i'll need a vent, since its only going to cover the tank and wiring, not the pump. the pump will still be attached about 2 inches above the cover...its okay, im gonna pop off to vw today to order it.
  18. i would ring them up or go visit them, they have etka and can tell you what you need for your car.
  19. i think the fuel bill and insurance costs are the only things that annoy me on the vr6, the rest of the time its a fun car to drive, its powerful, looks good, and is very comfortable.
  20. what do you think the vr would look like on steelies, i'd be interested if anyone have pics of a lowered golf on steelies lol....infact im seriously considering it.
  21. oh god, i really want that cover, its perfect, the pump stays open to air, but it covers the water bottle (so no need to buy a new one!) BRILLIANT, i'll get to vw tommorow and order one. if i rasie the bottle slightly, it'll fit, but it wont 'look' that great, if its covered, it doesnt matter!
  22. antera thats BRILLIANT, im going to make a 'filler' pipe so i can fill water up easily, and install a fan in the panel work, thats the main reason i didnt put it under the seats, it needs ventilation, the computer fans are 12v and perfect for mounting on plastic trim... rolling road on the 12th of october...thanks for the tip m8, i really appreciate it, my boot looks 'less than factory' at the moment, and thats what i loved about the vr6, it looks classy when lightly modded .
  23. bmc has very good reviews, ive had one on mine before the s/c, very good.
  24. Winter is fast approaching, and split rims hate road salt and so on. Does anyone have any suggestions for a set of 15's, with 5x112 and an et of 60 (since i dont want to remove my RH adaptors for no reason which at 25mm!)... any suggestions would be welcomed (obviously alloys should be cheap and cheerful ).
  25. i dont see how a smooth exhaust tract restricts airflow...it does mean less turbulance and backpressure, no?
