  1. Jey all, have finnaly got some money on the go now, and I am away to rebuild a vr6 engine I have sitting going to get most parts from VW, but am looking to purchase a spacer headgasket to lower the compression ratio, was wondering what gaskets are on the market and if anyone has any recomendations on one to use. also i was looking to purchase, a VF Engineering stage 1 supercharger kit, with current exchange rate it works out at like 1,963.05 GBP from the price not including shipping, i was thinking shipping would be a few hundered, possibly ? but all the suppliers i can find in this country ar
  2. I was still in reverse gear when the gearbox blew up, and had no intentions whatsoever to "slam it in to first gear" that is asking for things to break. Tyres are expensive, and I go through enough of them as it is, without pointlessly attaching them to a carpark.
  3. Actually - I cant wait to get some decent coilovers put on the car. and then take it to knockhill and thrash the crap out of it round a track
  4. Well my gearbox arrived for the Golf Today, and I have to say I am seriously unimpressed. it took 4 Days to get here instead of 1, They Claimed they cant provide a next day service to Aberdeen as it is in the Highlands..*Nightfreight* Couriers. When I got a look at it the gearbox appears to be a reconditioned one, and it has had a hole blown in it where I blew my last one, and it looks like it's been filled up with liquid metal This was not mentioned at all by the seller. - it also had a driveshaft flange Missing..., had to take one out of my old box. The box (Supposedly) does have a warrant
  5. well i never did look inside my last box, but im going to split this one and see what damage it has done,
  6. Well I took my gearbox out tonight, took me a hour and a half, which I though was not that bad, I have a box on the way up over night freight, and should be here tomorrow hopefully, and i will hopefully get it fitted tomorrow night. But Thats 2 VR6 Gearboxe's I have put a hole in recently, both have put holes from the diff area in to the bellhousing and out the back 2 seperate holes, does anyone know if this is a common fault or what causes it ? Finding gearboxes isnt a easy task, and i dont want to kill another one.
  7. I Managed to get another gearbox for my car, fitted it and put the thing back on the road, about a week ago. - and then blew a hole in the diff a week later! so im looking for "another" gearbox, I dont see how I have managed to blow holes in 2 gearboxes in less than a fortnight, of driving. i know my driveshafts are cracking a little bit and engine mount's need attention, but i really dont think that should effect my diff, but something must be. I am willing to spend up to 500, i got a whole VR6 for 400 for the last box, got spare engine and heaps of other bit's too, am hoping not to spend tha
  8. Can anyone estimate on how much it would cost to rebuild a VR6 Engine ? if I was to do all the work myself. im not planning on it but if i have a engine sitting might as well consider rebuilding it while it's not doing anything.
  9. Think i will save some more pennies and just get a new kit, from a UK Supplier, if im spending around 2k anyway what's spending another 500, to get it done with new part's without hassle. Just means i have to save a bit more cash,!
  10. I Have done a little bit of reading, and I thought 300 was about the limit where you start needing to reduce the compression raito and such, was hoping for around 300 without putting spacer gaskets on or skimming pistons I can put a spacer gasket on if need be, but id prefer not too. I had a bit of trouble getting a gearbox, this time round but bonus was I got a spare engine too, so I can handle blowing a engine, but another gearbox I had problems finding one, I was leaning towards turbocharging as it appears to be cheaper than supercharging, it seems supercharger is probably the prefered met
  11. Got the Car On the rollers a few weeks back, made 190bhp and 176/ft Got a Decat Pipe and a Pipercross Induction Kit. Was looking at turbocharging it or supercharging it, am looking for around 300bhp The car didnt cost me a lot as in not much over 2k and I was hoping to spend less than that on getting 300bhp from it found a few websites that do turbo/supercharger kit's for the VR6, but wondering if anyone has done this for under 2k ?
  12. I have been planning on putting my K Reg 2.8 VR6 offroad, over winter and spending some
  13. Having Problems with my golf still, basically my mate had a shot of it, and was reversing and stalled it, and it wouldnt start again I have traced it back to the Power Feed to the ECU Pin 23, Which is a ignition supply, to the ECU, and it is earthing all the time, but I dont have wiring digrams or sod all and cant tell where the wire goes, wondering if there is a fuel cutoff or something thats causing it to earth ?
  14. yeah, I dont plan on giving up on it just yet, going to try get all the little bits sorted. i know 130, is a fair rate to be going...and I wouldnt normally be driving at thoes speeds reguarly...it's just that it would be nice to know that you could if you wanted to...;c) it still fairly shifts off the line anyway...and it sounds amazing..although imo, it sounded a lot better with a cat on it. i put the decat on and it seemed to loose a bit of the note that it had before the decat didnt seem to make much of a difference, i evan debated putting the cat back on just to get the noise back. ;c)
