  1. Thanks all. My initial reaction was "Yeah, right!" but I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt, not knowing VeeDubs as well as many here. Yes, he is asking a bit much. Something in the order of three times the market value, I believe!
  2. Ooh ... my first post here for a while! Well, apart from one in the 'Wanted' section, that is ... Anyway, being on the lookout for another Vento VR6, or perhaps a Passat VR6, I regularly browse the Autotrader site. I came across this: Have any of you heard of this Vento Cup Limited Edition?
  3. Thanks everyone. I have sent a link to this thread. Hopefully the car's owner will realise how valuable this site is and join up!
  4. Hi, A friend has just sent me a text message. Someone he works with has a VR6. The chap drove it to work with no problems this morning. However, it has now decided it no longer wishes to work. From the message: "it has just died in the car park. Ignition comes on ok but turning the key to start does nothing. No noises etc at all. Do you know of any common issues that could cause this?" Any help will be gratefully passed back.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I want to have a good look around before I let the car go to a new home. I shall probably fit new rear brake discs & pads while I am at it ... watch this space for the next question, concerning jacking up the rear!
  6. Here's a silly question for you all. I tried searching but received circa 15 pages of irrelevant results, despite my best efforts! Assuming they are the same for both the Golf and Vento, where are the jacking points? I want to raise the front using a trolley jack. I cannot see anywhere obvious, either at the front, or the sides. A good start, eh? 8-)
  7. I use this one and Rovertech. I am a member of several others, but seldom post there.
  8. I fink txt spk gets right on my tits, like.

Did you run any kind of cold air feed to your RamAir kit? Curious ... and for future reference!

So, according to the results obtained from a rolling road, which induction kit is best?
  11. Many happy returns mate. Have a few ( ( ( on me!
  12. 7 pages of chit chat and hardly any photos ... this is going well! :-d
  13. A fellow Rovertech.net member posted this link earlier. I clicked in for a quick peep but ended up reading through the entire thread. All I can say is "Wow! What a project!" It is doing the rounds of various other enthusiasts' forums, so I thought I'd share it with the VR6OC: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=219069
  14. I thought I'd update this. I am unsure as to why fuel economy initially seemed a bit worse after treating my Vento to new plugs and leads. But I am happy to report that things have definitely improved! I am now getting 200 + miles to a tank of petrol, whereas before it was a struggle to get more than 180. My last full tank has lasted for just under 240 miles, which is by far the best I have obtained since I purchased the car. I suspect that, were it not for the fact that most of my journeys are fairly short and in traffic, I could get 300. All I need now is to get the car through next month
  15. I am not sure how people can say custom built systems are no good. What a sweeping generalisation! Quality may well vary from one place to the next, but that is insufficient basis to condemn them all. I am happy with my Powerflow cat-back system. It is louder than OE, but certainly not overpowering. Those that have heard it say it sounds really good. I know I like it!
