  1. if its got AC keep it on and notice how it 'dont stall no mo' thats what happened to me.
  2. your lucky you dont have ceramic rotors, they'd be ruined.
  3. Perhaps the thoughts of another SC VR driver. I drive mine daily. Setup: C2 8psi Kit with V1. Dastek ECU from stealth. i think my setup is far from perfect, it is NOWHERE near the advertised 280BHP, probably more like 240BHP! Anyways, its fine i enjoy it non the less. Current driving issues: Hates engine braking, if you let it overrun it will stall when you let it idle (ie if you come to traffic lights in 3rd and then put the clutch down) This requires the non-DVLA approved approach to driving which involves coasting.....which is a pain. I can drive it without stalling at all now, its not par
  4. hey guys, if you have not got your thatcham approved certificate, assume its not approved. Most insurance companies want to see proof....most of us dont bother sending these things in to them...don't gamble on your insurance.
  5. also cars will adjust idle based on electrical load.
  6. I think my c2 manual said every 22000 miles, but, i've heard of people who have run up to 50000 miles no service! its easy if you have one, just unhook it, unscrew the outer casing and check the flutes, vanes and screw for damage. Mine is on about 11k and is in pristine condition, probably bemuse it wasn't driven this winter
  7. Check ISV, check for leaks in the intake system. Pump the break pedal, does the engine stutter excessively? You cannot 'adjust' the idle like on an old carb run engine, its EFI, so its controlled by the ECU. But generally cars idle when cold but not when warm, so i'd check for the air leaks. also might not hurt to check out the various warm up gear such as thermostats... its been a while since i've thought about this stuff, maybe someone else can help?
  8. not reading any of the above posts, and in my opinion, its not worth it and your plans with the insurance company....well, i wouldn't bother, they aren't stupid. I suggest you buy a VR6 and insure it as a VR6, else you are driving uninsured.
  9. Are you brakes okay with the sand in them? rest looks great
  10. aircon 5bhp? are you sure? i thought i was more! my 5 door was always a bit slow even thought it was r&r'd at 178bhp, but quarter miles are so dependant on driving .
  11. if you want a grin on your face - try the v1 vortech, its slightly bigger but has a HUGE super charger whine. with quite a rich top end, youll get different mpg when driving hard (much wilder than normal!), i found my average mpg down to 19mpg and 17mpg with the aircon on, although i'm usually always on the boost and rich map. i have 4 years no claims and paid £1890 fully comp with all mods declared with HIC, the mods include exhuast, £600 for the alloys, stereo/ice, lights and so on, suspension. im 24.
  12. check for boost leaks m8, check the belt is tight - no belt slip. get it in vagcom and diagnosed.
  13. since you mention the c/c breather. Have you seen how much smoke comes out of that thing when its at full throttle? i hope you got an air filter on it . dubsingh what mileage is ur engine at?
  14. mine goes up to 15psi and its an autogauge one with black out when itsnot being used. it doesnt say boost or supercharger but shows vacuum too which is useful..(dunno what for )
  15. m8's, a coil pack for a vr6 will work on any vr6 engine with a coilpack (regardless of what odb it is). The issue is that a few early model odb1 engines had distributors (not coilpacks), however that was changed before the odb2's started rolling after 1995.
