  1. For me, the Eaton is better. It's positive displacement so you will get boost low down. The M90 is the one to go for. There is a guy on here who has installed one and it goes very well indeed :-) The Vortech needs a lot of revs to get the boost as it's centrifugal, but it needs a lot less work to install than the Eaton
  2. Forced induction or R32 conversion. By the time you've spent 1000s on big valve heads, high lift cams, capacity increases and trick cranks, 12:1 pistons etc etc, you'll struggle to hit 250 @ the crank. It's just how 12Vs are. They're not worth tuning normally aspirated beyond the basics.
  3. Looks like a great forum, good shout!
  4. Agreed on the stainless pipes. Looks nice and it's very strong :-) I wouldn't worry about the boost pipes retaining heat mate. It's not a problem if the chargecooler is a good one ;-)
  5. Cats muffle the exhaust slightly, so taking it off will make your exhaust a bit louder, especially if the bypass is the non resonator type....
  6. Yeah 2.5hp is immense, takes a lot of effort keeping all that brutality on the straight and narrow :-) Boost leaks, is that when your engine gets to it's stage in life where it needs a colostomy bag to catch it? :-)
  7. Autotech 262 are probably the best value cam at the momnet and come with a locking tool too.
  8. And I make 2.5hp with 400" boost pipes :-)
  9. I got them through Stealth years ago when I had Schrick 268s etc.
  10. The 2.9 tends to have a little more power at the top end and it has a higher rev limit than the 2.8, but other than that, it really isn't worth it. I actually prefer the way a decent OBD2 2.8 drives. God knows why VW bothered with the 2.9. It's not like it was unique to the Corrado in the end, which I think was VW's intention, but another 100cc? Wow, what a massive incentive not to buy a Golf VR6, LOL!
  11. Cool, good to know. They are £140 new from the dealer if you can't find a s/hand one that hasn't been drilled or hacked to peices.
  12. Probably 500-550whp with a GT35 on "pump gas", but they use E85 over there, so possibly a little more.
  13. For what application? Forced induction or normally aspirated? The Corrado VR6 airbox might fit better in the MK2. The MK3 airbox is a weird shape as you say. I use the standard airbox in my turbo application and it works fine.
  14. I've used Schrick springs and cheap US brand X springs and both were fine. Schrick springs are about £120 a set IIRC, so not especially cheap.

Stealth Racing also offer a drive in, drive out price of £4400 for stage 1, which is 9psi and 360hp :-) Got pretty much all my stuff from the states and as said already, good prices and service. If you get friendly with these people they do you discounts anyway, which helps a bit with the customs sting.
  16. Lift, lobe seperation, duration, tip profile, etc etc,. could be any number of differences.
  17. "Gas flowed" throttles do nothing. Someone has just made it shiney and smooth, does absolutely nothing for air flow. The prroper modified ones with bigger throttle plates *do* make a difference. I've used the ones Alpina527 on here used to make on all levels of VR6 tune and there's gains everywhere.
  18. You can't use silicon hose anyway, unless it's the special stuff that is chemically treated to handle oil and antifreeze. Regular rubber "heater hose" will do the job and it's cheap!
  19. Depends on the cost of the shortening really. The DSS axles come with stronger CVs and ready to bolt on as Maiden says. These gearboxes are getting on my nerves now, LOL! I found out that R32s and 4 motions got an 02M up to 2007. Then they got an 02Q manual and the 02E DSG. The 02Q has some internal differences to the 02M to improve the shift quality, plus some minor casing alterations (including the deletion of the speedo drive). According to SQS, the 02M and 02Q casings are not interchangable, meaning if you have an 02Q, the only option is the EOS R32 FWD clutch casing. I'm not so sure
  20. Mine's the Schimmel setup mate - http://www.spturboparts.com/aftermarket/ViewDetails.aspx?prod=16255 The tank is 3 US Gallons, so a little under 12 litres. I have mine like this:- Tank -> Radiator -> Chargecooler -> Return to tank. Some people have it this way when running ice for sprints :- Tank -> Chargecooler -> Radiator -> Return to tank
  21. Depends on the cams really. I've also had the VGI with Schrick 268s and they do work well together. The seller said he used 268s from America, so Vince probably meant those particular cams didn't work with the VGI.
  22. I use an aircon radiator for my chargecooler too. You need quite a powerful water pump though as it's quite restrictive. Cools the water really well though! Not sure about your Air con pump queries though as my car never had it, but I can't see any harm in leaving it connected and just freewheeling.
