  1. Yeah the 60-1 is also known as the 'T04S', which you can get in T3 or T4, or T4 divided etc etc. I'm not sure of the exact model Stealth use. I know it''s a T4 and they send them off to a turbo specialist for 360 deg bearings.
  2. R32 head has bigger valves and ports, but smaller diameter head bolts. Personally I would just go with a complete 2.8 24V and not worry about the R32 head yet. That's something you can do later down the line.
  3. Yeah 84mm, with longer stroke too.
  4. Yep, but for how long though is a different matter :-) I've read that some high boost R32 turbos have needed girdled blocks as they can't handle it. Doesn't surprise me looking at the block casting closely. It's not as 'chunky' as the 12V's.
  5. Yeah I think they do. JE do aswell. Schimmel put 800whp through an 83.5mm 12V block :-) The 12V is a tank.
  6. If you want to keep the same block for 200,000+ miles, then fair enough, but there is no technical reason why you shouldn't go from 81mm to 83mm. I did that almost 50K miles ago and it's been perfect.
  7. Yeah they're not bad at all mate! I got them as a credit crunch option as I just can't afford to throw £550 of continentals or Bridgestones at it every year. The Kumhos are only £240 for four, fitted! (205/40/17). To be honest, I am struggling to see where I'm losing out. The Bridgees and contis probably are better all rounders, but certainly not £300 better! I'm still driving the car just as quickly as I did with the pricier rubber. Traction and grip all feel very similar to me :-) The brakes are seriously good fun. I would always recommend some investment in that area! They give
  8. That's one reason why I swapped the GT30 for a GT35. The 30 was boosting too soon and the wheelspin just slows you down. Better to have 'lag' as at least you're moving faster than spinning. 35R appears to be half way between the HX35 and HX40 from what you've said, which is ideal for me.
  9. /\ Yep and he's got a divided T4, so that's a lot of exhaust gas that needs to go somewhere on low boost, and the T60-1 is quite a big turbo! I'm no hero though, LOL! :-) Just things I've learned from c0cking about with this stuff!
  10. Yeah give the spring a whirl first but if it still creeps, you'll need the 44. It's all V band and 1.75" bore tubing, so flows plenty :-)
  11. I would run a 44mm with the 60-1 personally, especially if you're running under 1 bar boost.
  12. I use AP Racing 4 pots with 330mm discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads, which to me feels spot on for the car's weight and power. I've done the 288s and 312s and they just fade and warp. It's common sense folks..... if you double the engine power, then you should double the braking power too :-) If you defo want 15s, then AP Racing 4 pots (CP5200 caliper) with AP 304mm discs fit under a Comp MO, ET30.
  13. What's interesting about that is the Magnaflow is 2.25" and the others are 2.5", but ultimately that will prove restrictive once forced induction gets involved. Good to see the Techtonics gets a good score because I really rate it and it sounds so subtle. Shame they didn't send the Borla muffler version which is the one I use, but it still did well. It's quieter than the Jetex by a long margin and has demonstrated ample flow in my turbo application.

  15. Should work fine. It's a bit bigger than a GT35R, but I'm not sure where it make full boost.
  16. /\ Yep. You can't get much bigger valves in a stock 12V head and it makes little difference anyway. Need to start over with a new casting like Schrick did (IIRC). Bigger valves, bigger ports, the lot. Despite that, it's still way off what even a 2.8 24V can flow. R32 heads flow even more!
  17. The Corrado VR6 for one cold climates is small
  18. How long have the 440s been in? Were they brand new to begin with? I doubt they need cleaning. Fuels are a lot cleaner than they used to be. What are the symptoms? If they're Bosch 440s and it's a bit lumpy at idle and low rpms, you might have a couple from a bad batch that dribble. They're well known to be bad injectors.
  19. By making bigger throttle plates and boring out the housing to suit.
  20. The OBD1 throttles can be taken apart and bored out no problem, but sadly the OBD2 one can't!
  21. To make a throttle flow more, you need to increase the size of the butterfly plate, which you can't do on the standard 67mm OBD2 throttle. Mainly because A) there isn't enough meat in the housing and both ends of the throttle spindle are welded, so can't come apart. All you can do is shave off the hump, but I really wouldn't do that. If you want a different but bigger throttle, you need to find one with the same electronics inside it as the VW one, and of course the manifold will need modifying to suit aswell. In short, really not worth it for what you would get in return.
