  1. Cheers mate, waiting on my boss to order me some steel, then i'l get cracking.
  2. I was going to clean it up, and take all of the underseal off, and either use a sand blaster or use a wire wheel on a grinder. But it still needs slot of modifying!
  3. Hmm, look at the mk1 chasing! Love it! I dito what Tony said, if my cars done, would be a good opportunity to 'shake down' after the build. I'l be a possibility...
  4. It may need a soak in wd40 or similar, but you should be able to hold the center and undo the nut.
  5. Any vr6 engine will work, just transfer all your current parts off the broken engine onto the new lump, easy.
  6. How come you swapped the ecu etc? You could have left all of your ecu, transponder etc in the car, and just swapped all the engine ancillaries over. I did it at the weekend, put an obd1 set-up engine in an obd2 car just by swapping everything on the obd2 engine onto the obd1 engine. Fired up first time.
  7. You might get away without having to buy a gasket, as it might come off in 1 piece, if so just use the paste to seal that and the other end.
  8. Pop the vent out with a small screw driver on the left and right of it.
  9. Sounds like the current needs turning up. Pics would help, as bungy said
  10. Try reseting your ecu. Unplug the battery for a few minutes, then re-connect it, switch ignition on for a minute, start it and leace it to run for 5 minutes without touching throttle etc.
  11. No signal to the coil pack? If the coil pack isn't turning 'on' then the main power to the ecu, injectors won't be there. Its supplied via a relay (can't remember which 1), and it should be the the solid black on the coil plug. Also check the red/blue wire on the injector part of the loom for 12v with ignition on. If the coil isn't being switched, i.e, has power to it but the ecu isn't switching the relevent side of the coil on, check continuity between the coil plug and the ecu plug, should be black/brown, black/blue, black/green.
  12. Its called compound charging, this mk4 has a g6o s/charger, plus a gt30, was featured in pvw a while back. Bit of a monster!Don't think i've seen a vr like it, but check these guys out (trying to find the link)
  13. Got a rad if you want it, out of a mk3. Could try it if you wanted? Located in petersfield
  14. Nice mod Kev, must be the first 12v vr with dbw? Oh, like the fact you can tame the car for when the other half drives it! Just think of the fuel you'd save!!
  15. So, mystery solved? 'Cause it's not either of ours.... :^)
  16. Boost leak in the system somewhere?
  17. On later vr's, they have seat belt pre-tensioners. They are located under the plastic interior sill cover.
  18. Try it, but go in the head tightening order, should be ok doing them 1 at a time.
  19. The tappets will sound noisy after an oil change, until the oil pressure has reached them once the engine has been started. The vr shouldn't be run on thinner oil.
  20. Well done Dan! Nice white vr you've got, with tidy subtle mods, shame its getting new wheels as they really suit it!
