  1. Personally I change the whole switch from one in a breakers yard. I'm picky like you so OEM FTW
  2. That was the suggestion for a the Ruscort. Is it a common fault on these then? I've always known the resistors to cause the fans themselves to only work on full speed when they go wrong rather than effect the AC system? Not doubting it, just curious
  3. Hi all Got a weird AC problem and wondered if anyone had any ideas. The AC was regassed just over a year ago and has been working perfectly since. Regularly used (even over winter). These past few weeks it has started only working on fan speed 1. If I switch the fan speed up to 2, 3 or 4 the AC switches off (can feel the clutch disengage) but the fan still works as it should. I've Googled the fault and not come up with much except a F*rd Escort with a similar fault, although I'm not sure how relevant the remedy would be for our systems. Thanks Aaron
  4. Ah Peter Cooper. My old local stealership when I live in Hedge End. Welcome to the forum
  5. Mine was loosing a little coolant and it turned out I had a tiny crack in the thermostat housing. Changed that and I've not lost any since.
  6. I'll second the AC answer. I know I've left it on before now. I don't know what the score is with Climatronic though...
  7. Evening/morning peeps! Sent my VR in for service/MOT today and asked them to look into the airbag light being on. A VAG-com scan showed the fault to be with the "offside ignitor" Am I right in assuming this is the drivers airbag ignitor ring? There's no other pretensioned belts etc is there?
  8. Stock figure is something like 34psi / 2.4bar isnt it? I'd be looking to go closer to that. 3psi makes a visibly noticeable difference.
  9. Well MOT today and, low and behold, they advised the top mounts have excessive play. They'll be changed when the coilovers go on (unavoidably delayed )
  10. I wouldn't say it was a loud bang. It's more of a twang or boing noise. You can feel it throught the wheel too.
  11. Can anyone give me some idea what this may be? I'm looking to start adding my own touches but first I want to sort the niggles. It only seems to happen when I'm about the hit full lock turning right hand down. It will also do it when turning back. Thanks Aaron
  12. "I've gotta get a supercharger on this. I'm not having that" Classic. Gotta BMW drivers and their illusions of being that fastest cars on the road. The local 3 series owners know my car now and won't play anymore...
  13. This is Vauxhall's use of it. Quite convincing to Joe Public I think...
  14. Vauxhall actually adopted it earlier than Ford and made a very good job of it. They call them "structure" wheels. To the untrained (read as non-geek) eye you'd never know until you had to remove one. Even the dismantlers at work have questioned me selling a single alloy from a good set until they're told it's a steel!
