  1. And more of the fun that happened on the last long weekend... So with the floor trimmed, it was ready to be spot welded in place. I tack welded along the inner edge of the floor to sill, and the floor braces, then a touch of paint. I then started to join the chassis rails together Then joining the floor to inner arch sections
  2. Looks like the trigger wire for the starter. Should plug into the solenoid on top of the starter motor, which is on the front of the gearbox.
  3. I hope so, but that might be pushing it abit, but we'll see...
  4. No dear, i think you've got the wrong end of the stick.... it WAS going to have rwd, mid- bike engine, but i've saved it from that fate to have all the best bits from my old (rip) mk3. Will update more pics soon, got loads!!
  5. I'm back from the Isle of Man on the 10th, but not sure if i can make it though-must crack on with the mk1!
  6. A quick search on google and found this http://www.kentpaint.co.uk/
  7. Yeah give it a go mate, if it goes wrong it would only fry your car! Lol!
  8. Surely it would earth to the body? As the aerial is joined to the body metal to metal, or is yours different?
  9. The first 1 looks to be satin black, the second looks matt. Sounds like your looking for the satin, and any automotive paint shop will sell it in what ever type you want - cellulose, 2 pack etc
  10. No, but should be mars red, which it will be once i spray it.
  11. Once the cosmetics side of the welding had been finished, i started to plan out how the mk3 was going to fit! So i made a jig to ensure that the mk3 subframe/floor/wishbone mounts started at the same place as the mk1's. Then the fun could begin! First by cutting more off of the mk1.. And preping the mk3 floor with the subframe fitted, ready for trimming... I the mk3 floor cut over-size, so that i had an edge which could be folded and spot welded to the mk1 sill.. Then the mk3 was trial fitted to the mk1 shell... And with more trimming of both parts, it finally became 1!
  12. So, i basically bought it as a rolling shell, which had the front and rear floors cut out, a box-section frame welded in, and plans for a rwd, mid bike engined car. I set about removing the box frame and jigging/squaring the shell, as without a rear panel on it too, it was quite flexible! The car came with a roll-over jig too, which i had to modify slightly so that it worked. There was a bit of rust in the shell, 1 of the rear arches had been replaced, the other needed replacing, a section of the rear chassis leg and the rear panel fitting. Thats all for now, got some work to do
  13. Maybe a drive out in a s/charged and turbo'd vr would make your mind up? Then you see/hear/feel the difference..
  14. Thanks for all of the amusing comments! I think its about time i showed you all what i've been up to... The new project lol!
  15. It doesn't show anything to do with the fan, sorry mate! And i can't check my wiring because its burried in a bag somewhere.
  16. I could have a look later in my manual to see if it shows the fan wiring?
  17. Those calipers will require more fluid to operate the pistons, but have you tried pushing the pistons back into the caliper, with the nipple open to see if there is air behind the pistons.
  18. Your cars looking really smart mate. Why not try dropping the gearbox oil, and replacing with fresh oil?
  19. Sounds good mate, and yeah stick some pictures up of it to show us all what it is, because i hate bloody secrets, and people not showing us all what they've bought!!! LOL!
  20. I did your first chioce on Katies vr recently as the breather had split in half too. Works fine, just like an obd1 setup really.
  21. You can buy the breather part from fords mate, there was a thread on here with the part number for it. If you wanted to use a catch can, yes pipe from your rocker to the can, then a filter on the exit of the can. The smaller hose, that goes in near the t/b, just use that as the breather from the fuel tank. Its the hose that comes off of the small solenoid by the air filter.
  22. Just being helpful fella.
