  2. Probably same with mine, only noticed it because I got a leak from the bottom part of the pump so took it of and found it didn't even turn when connected to a 12v supply.
  3. Fitted a genuine VW temp sender and sealed an air leak on the intake ducting where the engine breather pipe joins the main duct, seems to have been ok since. Just discovered that electric secondary water pump hasn't been working so i have that to sort out now!!
  4. Cheers that's the same no as the one I saw for sale.
  5. Thanks, I used to have a copy of Ekta but somehow it got deleted off my pc! Thought about fixing it but if it goes wrong ie something breaks/ shears off etc then I'm stuck.seen one for about £29.00 so might risk it, what part no does Ekta give out of interest?
  6. Does any one know if there is a difference between a 96 vr secondary water pump and a 2002 4 motion unit? I have got a leaking pump (only happens when engine is cold) but don't fancy forking out £100 quid + for a new unit, so thought of a second hand item if it is compatible, any info appreciated.
  7. i fitted a new one a few months ago (not genuine vw) so i think i'll try a proper one this time!
  8. Got a problem with my 96 vr , vcds says fault on maf but i have tried a different one and it made no difference, the symptoms are the engine nearly dies as the idle speed goes so low after cold start, as the temp increases then idle speed returns to near normal but still a bit low, then i get random times when rpm fluctuates between 2500 and 800 if coming up to junctions etc when not under any load.On the vcds readout there is a fault code for a solenoid valve which on most of list of codes i have found says that it relates to auto gearbox which i dont have. Before i started the engine i ran va
  9. Having a problem with cold stating, not got to the stage yet where the car wont start at all but it seems to be getting steadily worse, used to fire up straight away now it takes longer to fire then its as if theres not enough fuel going in, engine seems to nearly stall unless throttle is quickly pressed, once car is running its fine and can be for the rest of the day, just seems to be first time starting in the mornings.Need to get it sorted before winter sets in, any clues? Recently changed temp sensor due to eratic running then idle speed seemed to be constantly too high on approach to junc
  10. Hopefully sorted now, took the intake duct off and found the breather unit had just about parted company with the rubber hose that comes off the top of the rocker cover, quick clean up and a dab or two of super glue as a temp fix seems to have sorted it. Anyone know if the breather is available seperate to the intake ducting?
  11. I'll do that, one thing I noticed was some oil under the air intake pipe where the engine breather joins on, could be drawing air in I suppose.
  12. Never given it a thought, could be I suppose, although it is ok until the engine warms up,still wortha lol though.
  13. Any one had issues with idle speed being too high when engine is at normal running temp? my 96 vr has just started doing this since i changed the temp sensor due to cold running problems ie nearly stalling all the time.symptons are after pulling up at a junction too a complete stop the rpm sticks at around 2k for 2-3 seconds then gradually goes down to normal 800rpm.I havnt got any fault codes logged, any suggestions??
