  1. Have you checked the wiring as it sounds like something is causing a dead short when the fan is tried to be switched on.
  2. Smart, modernises the inside of a mk3 up to current vag standards. Looks really good!
  3. Might as well get the whole shaft, and keep your old driveshaft for spares.
  4. No, as long as you've got a vice handy to hold the driveshaft, it makes life alot easier. Once you take the driveshaft off, you'll see on the inner c.v, once you've wiped the grease away, a c clip holding it on the shaft. The outer c.v needs to be beaten off the shaft.
  5. Yeah that definately sounds like a c.v joint. If you jack the front of the car up, take the wheels off but screw a couple of bolts back in to hold the disc, then start the engine, put it in gear and turn lock to lock. You should hear the clunking! Why not just buy an inner or outer c.v instead of the whole shaft?
  6. Its not too bad a job, just don't rush! And make sure its timed up correctly. Would be interested to see where its actually 'gone'.
  7. Isn't the o2a box standard on a vr anyway? I'm using an o2m box, which yes, is stronger. And it bolts straight up to the vr block, but you will need a flywheel and clutch to match (240mm).
  8. Ouch! Reminds me of my 205 gti crash where i got out of the boot after rolling it! (no seat belt again)
  9. M6 socket headed cap screws, or earlier vr's had M6 bolts, about 10mm/15mm long.
  10. Join the crappy road club mate, Englands roads are pants too! That might be the problem then, it would cause extra strain on the bearings. Just a thought, if your doing them yourself, are you torquing the hub nuts up correctly after the bearings have been replaced?
  11. Nice 1! In yer face green! That will stand out well at shows!

In the passenger foot well, under the dash. Might have to take the lower section of dash off to access it. There is a resistor under the fan unit, where 3 or 4 wires plug in, that might be fooked.
  13. Which bearings? Front or rear? If its your rears, then they could be over tightened or lack of grease.
  14. Either or mate, just be careful when undoing the bolts! Stick a clamp over the whole w/gate, or put it in a vice because there is quite a bit of energy there!
  15. I run 2 of the turbosmart w/gates, i know i havn't done that many miles with them (2000), but they seem excellent. All you'll need to do is remove 1 of the springs in the gate, as they are rated at 7 psi each.
  16. Undo the two allen bolts behind the steering wheel, pull the airbag out, but be careful! Might be an idea to disconnect battery first. Then undo the nut in the middle and pull steering wheel off.
  17. I replied to his email, bidded an won, but nothing came of it, no money exchanged and no hassles as it was all closed using ebay. I did think it was dodgy yes, but just wanted to help him out. Like i said, no money was exchanged. It more of an ebay scam 'bidding things up' rather then a 'steal your money' scam.
  18. Is it coilpack or dizzy? That will make a difference. The best person to ask would be united motorsport mate, he'll know what ecu to use.
  19. Make it lighter! And a g60 final drive, maybe smaller wheels?
  20. Yeah i second a dodgy thermostat. Cheap to replace.
  21. You don't have to be a 'polisher' to go to shows fella, trust me! The shows are more of a meet, catch up and a laugh!
  22. Regarding the clutch, was the gti a hydraulic clutch? If so then yes it will be fine. If not you may need a vr pedal box, clutch master cylinder and a brake fluid reservoir with a take off to feed the clutch master cylinder. Regarding rebuild parts, tps are a favourite because you get genuine parts at a discounted price. Or you could try the likes of euro car parts etc. Projects looking good, bet you can't wait!!
  23. That is a tidy corrado, and looks the nuts in red with the th2's. Any other plans for it? Will you be coming to any shows this year?
