  1. 36mm. Sealy do one. I just happen to have a brand new spare one. Yours for £8. inc P&P 3/8" square drive. Its like this one http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=120894&MAN=Sealey-Low-Professional-Oil-Filter-Socket-36mm-3-8-inchsq-Drive Let me know if you want it.
  2. I have the same problem. Only started this year. Using th AC on hot or cold clears it up very quickly. I changed the pollen filter, and like someone said aboe there was loads of gunk and leaves in there, but didnt fix the problem. I thought it may be something to do with the AC not being able to drain the water it collects. I had a look in my Bently manual which shows the location of the AC drain on the bulk head, but couldn't find it on my car. Anyone know where the drain may be? I want to check if its blocked or not.
  3. Well I guess I'll have a chat with chips away as I really cant do without the car for any length of time. Cheers
  4. Gutted for you. I'm assuming the theives took the interior and not the salvage yard.
  5. Firstly, I have no clue about the engine in your car, but the older 12V VR6 engine has a secondary electric water pump which pumps the water around after the engine is shut off. On the VR6 its located on the top right hand side of the engine, as you look at it. Hope the above is of some use.
  6. Look what some idiot did to my bumper last night. You reckon chipsaway or similar will be able to sort it?
  7. Glad its sorted. My mpg went up quite a bit after I sorted the maf prob out as well.
  8. Jeez! It sounds like the security staff were to blame though for gettin them to run to the shop. Idiots!
  9. I was just on ebay doing a bit of window shopping for a M3. Clicked the first listing, and it took me to a 'sign in' web page which looked real enough, but looking at the web address it took me to it was obvious it was fake. Plus, the M3's were advertised with hardcore porno pics! It's he first time I've come across this scam. So watch out!
  10. Cheapest MAF sensor I found was at GSF for £70ish on exchange. Before you change the MAF check the wires to the plastic plug which fits onto the MAF. May well save you some cash.
  11. Check the wires to the MAF, mine were corroded at the base of the wires in to the plug, whihc caused stalling / poor running. Also had popping noises from the exhaust - mechanic said it was a missing blanking plate on one of the exhaust silencers. He welded the hole up for a fiver.
  12. When mine was stalling / running rough the problem was a corroded wire in to the MAF sensor plug. Two of the wires were cracked at their base where it goes into the plug. Quick to diagnose / rule out. PS I had it VAG Commed and it came up with a faulty MAF sensor
  13. Kench - sorry fella, didn't want to worry you! Obviously the change over from the private reg has not been updated by the DVLA. Stop worrying and start enjoying your highline

    VR top speed ?

VR40 - whats happened to your dash? I've got this vision in my head of you getting to that speed and the whole car disintergating around you!
  15. Nice looking car there. Cant beat a dark colour on a VR. After seeing the VR badge on the front I checked your reg on the RAC website to see if its registerd as a highline - its coming up as not registered? Any idea why?
  16. Check out the 'Yellow Pages' on this site http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/yellowpages/yellowpages.php . All of the specialists are listed there. I'm with Bretacre at the moment, not claimed with them, but when ive called them they are really helpful and know an induction kit from a coilover.
  17. By having only four bolts you would have put more stress on the bolts and bolt holes. On a steel wheel this would result in elongated bolt holes in the rim, but on an alloy I'm not sure that would happen. Best bet is to take it to a tyre place or wheel refurbers and get them to have a look at the rim and bolts. To be honest the person who sold it to you is out of order. Personally I could never intentionally sell a dangerous car to save £20 on a set of locking nuts.
  18. Oh well. It was probably worth an aftermoon trying to fix your old one. Glad you got it sorted.
  19. Loving the plate on that. Is it totally standard?
  20. Try fixing the coilpack. Its gotta be worth a go. Mine was running bad a few weeks ago, turned out to be the wires which plug into the MAF. They were brittle and corroded, check that while your taking the coil pack out.
  21. Nope. You need a short length of silicone hose with two jubilee clips between the MAF and the BMC.
  22. When I installed by old sony I had to swap the yellow and red wires over for it to work properly - I think this is what Eat this is saying above.
  23. Have you tried vege ltd? - do a google and youll find them. When I had engine woes they were recommended to me, althogh i cannot vouch for them as I ended up buying a second hand engine.
  24. I had similar running problems to what you are describing. I had the codes checked and it was pointing to the MAF (£70 from GSF). I had it changed and it ran well for a month or two. It then started kangarooing / stalling at idle to the point I couldn't drive it. This time the MAF came up as a code again. It turned out to be a corroded / partially broken wire on the plug that goes into the MAF. I repaired the plug and the car now runs great. I guess the wire was weak and having the MAF changed made matters worse. So... check your wires. Mine was broken at the base of the wire where i
