  1. Those look like BBS Solitude wheels. They were the standard wheels on the Golf VR6 'Highline'.
  2. Hi, It won't say 'Synta Silver' on the bottle. It's just a silver bottle with Synta written on it. It is semi-synth, it says 'Syntehtic Blend' on the label. And finally, its the right choice for the VR6. I've always used it, as do others on this forum. Never had problems with it. The hand book also recommends VW 500.00 oil - which is Synta Silver. From memory the Synta Gold is the fully synth version.
  3. i got rid of a load of overspray using Maguiars quick clay detailing bar. Worked a treat. Got it from halfords
  4. Fixed. Looking VERY clean mate. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a183/scamp111/8943648c.jpg
  5. wejAUYL; Hmm, Ive got quite a big nose so I was thinking it would help...evidetly I was wrong.
  6. I've got Tomtom mobile 5.2 running on my phone. It uses a bluetooth GPS revcier which is about the size of a matchbox. I just pop the gps reciever on the sunroof sliding cover so it can 'see' the sky and the phone in a holder - no messy wires. It works really well. It automatically uses the phones loudspeaker, and you can attach a bluetooth hands free to it as well. You need a compatible pone though - one which uses simbian series 60 platform (Nokia 6260,6680 etc..) Some people (not me of course) download a cracked copy of the software from the net, then buy a GPS reciever (about £40-£5
  7. Sharky - I havent got round to getting the key cut yet. Probaly do it this weekend, I'll post again with the results.
  8. I need a new key cut, so i spoke to my local key cutting place. He said he could cut and code it for £20. But before he gave me a price he waved the key infront of a code reader to see if he could do it or not.
  9. I had one go in about 18 months, I put it down to dodgy fitting / crap bearing. But as said above, it may be a problem with the hub.
  10. 28v6r - the engine needs to be supported as I found out that the bolts which hold the starter in place also go through an engine mount. VR6Rich - I have a Bently manual as well, but it isnt exactly clear. I cant make head nor tail of the diagrams!
  11. I need to remove my starter motor so that I can replace the earth strap. (Stealth said I would need to replace the starter at £120 +vat+fitting, so DIY fixing the existing has got to be worth it) I need to know whats involved in removing it (starter), in particular - do I need to remove anything else to get to it? I know the engine needs supporting - Is a trolley jack + block of wood under the sump ok, or will it bend the sump? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi, can we have the chat box area on the left? It looks better, and the 'since you last visit there have been....' statistics are the first thing i look at, so its better if its on the left.

  15. Bang on vertical (90 degrees?) once warmed up, and it doesnt budge. Its never been over this in the 3 years ive owned it.
  16. Heres a list of Tesco's that are doing it. http://www.greenergy.com/products/99_octane_locations.html
  17. Cheers. Mines garaged as well, but with -3 this morning plus wind chill at motorway speeds meant they froze.
  18. Does the Mk3 have heated washer jets? If so, do you need to turn them on somehow? Mine froze up this morning half way down the M5. Left me with a a bunch of white salt streaks all over the window, couldnt see a effing thing!
  19. I get the same if i wind my window down - the revs drop a little and the headlights dim everso slightly. But running 2 amps and a sub on full blast doesnt effect it.
  20. A quick look at my manual shows that the sunroof and interior light are run off the same fuse No. 16 (15 amp), so if you've cheked the fuse, it may be the wiring/connectors behind the fuse box behind the fuse. As for the central locking - can you hear the pump whirring? or is it silent?
  21. Well, just fitted it today - fit is very good, a little gap in the middle, but only about 6mm. Got them off this bloke from ebay... tuning-partner
