  1. Just a quick tip if you have a BMC - I've had one for a while now, and it needs clearing out every now and then. HOwever, I tried the other night and all the acrews which hold it together had corroded to the point I cant get them off. Probably a good idea to protect them somehow (petrolium jelly?) or replace with ones that wont corrode.
  2. Gutted for you. Thats excatly the same as what happened to mine a year or so ago. Bearing went and totally knackerd the whole engine. I ended up getting a very low mileage Corrado engine fitted at Stealth. Cost a bomb but would have lost more scrapping / breaking the car as I only had it a year when it happened. It still pisses me off when I think about it.
  3. I prefer mine without the skirts. I took mine off as they were cracked and rusting. You can easily but them back on as long as you dont take off the stuck on strip off. Just remove the screws and the end caps, and leave the stuck on strip on and make a descision. Once you take the stuck on strip off it bends and i imagine would be a right pain in the arse to stick back on in the right place.
  4. No. The skirt is fitted via 5 or 6 screws underneath the car. once thats off, along with the little platic 'end caps' on teh wheel arch you will see a 1 inch wide strip glued to the car body work. This just pulls off (with care!). I did this the other week with no problems with the paint peeeling at all.
  5. Just did my annual ring around, and I have to say Bretacre came out top for the second year running. Im 29 with 6yrs NCB, includes 2000 business miles. Car has 2.9 block and an induction kit. Quotes are as follows... Brentacre: 575 (renewal came through at £675, but after a little chat they came down to match Adrian Flux ) Adrian Flux: 575 HIC: 630 Elephant: 717 (no mods declared) Priveldge: 959 Performance Direct: 1009 Direct Line: 1225 ASDA: 1281 Bell/Admiral/AXA/SKY/Budget/Morethan/esure wouldn't even give me a quote
  6. Does anyone know where the water drain for the A/C is located on the bulkhead? I can seem to find anything on the bulkhead that looks remoltly like a drain.
  7. My mate had this on his 3 door Golf. Turned out to be a broken pipe which carries the washer fluid to the rear wash/wipe. I think the pipe makes its way behind the rear door card if memory serves me.
  8. I can second mytyres.co.uk They werere the cheapest by quite a way on my 205/50/15 and they were delivered very quickly.

    cat joke

There were two cats. An english cat called " one tow three" and a french cat called "une deux trios". They were out one day and crossed a river. One two three cat made it across, but une deux trios cat sank. (sorry, i'll get my coat)
  11. I have a JL Audio W0 (enrty model) 10" and its never let me down. Just remember that if you put a grill over it, make sure you have plenty of clearance for the 'throw' of the sub. (I didnt and as a result the foam onthe sub was hitting the grill and it creased it, eventually ripping it!)
  12. Glad you got it sorted. But just for info this website stocks them http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/Products.aspx?category=236 I've not used them, but found the link whilst looking for a ABS pump.
  13. I think the tensioner he is talking about is located at the back of the engine block on the passagner side. Looks like a large bolt. It's there to tension the cam chain. When mine was making noises this was the first thing the mechanic took out to check. (My noises turned out to be big end bearings and a big bill)
  14. I need a new set. What size do they need to be? Ive got standard BBS 15" wheels.
  15. I get 280 out until the needle sits on zero. 60 mile round trip/day on motorways
  16. You live and learn! :$ Thanks for all the replies on this.
  17. Not sure what Koni TA's are. They are descried as Koni Sports. See www.stealthracing.co.uk
  18. Is anyone using the above? If so, your comments would be welcome. As far as I can tell they have Blistein Dampers and H&R Springs (For £348) but give a 60mm drop. But for £329 I can get H&R springs with damp adjustable koni shocks. I'm just trying to make my mind up on what to get for about £300-£350.
  19. I have Magnecor leads on mine (blue ones). The quality of them is really good. They do 7mm diameter, 8mm and 8.5mm. For your budget you can get the 8mm ones. See link below: http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ There are two versions (one for cars with a distributer and one for cars without)
  20. Looks nice mate. What size are those wheels? And did you need any arch work?
  21. Yes, its a bit pricey. Its meant for track day cars though.
  22. So then, whos going to be the first to try it? See link for the places its available.. http://www.carkeys.co.uk/news/2006/april/24/9841.asp
  23. That looks sweet, I've just started to look arounf for a Mk1, not found anything in that sort of condition. Well spotted
  24. When mine did this, the actual starter motor was fine, but the braided earth strap (can be seen on the top of the starter body) had corroded. Looked ok to the eye, but a quick poke with a screw driver and it fell apart.
