My car wont idle at all well, really lumpy and sometimes cuts out all together. It also starting popping loudly from the centre of the exhaust (thats where it sounds like its coming from anyway) when slowing down or changing gear. There is no problem with the exhaust blowing though. Its also developed a flat spot at 2500 rpm when cold. Any help much appreciated!!! its a '93 VR6.

It s not difficult to do mate, just a ball aching task. I paid £36 for the matrix and did it myself in a few hours. You dont need to take out all of the dash, just the bottom half.

started doing the matrix after it arrived this morning, just having a break cos its getting to me now! got so far as getting to the matrix box i cant see how that s going to come out without removing the dash. I ve taken out the centre console all the way up to the stereo. Got the fan and the duct along from the passenger side to the matrix box out. Undone the 3 bolts and 2 nuts from the engine bay side of the bulk head and now come to a stand still. Anyone happen to be on thats done this without taking out the dash?

Im seriously considering a decat for mine next too. I ve ordered a pro ram ramair filter so thought to get the best out of it Im going to need to de cat as well. Has anyone done theirs? If so what do you think of it? The_one: I saw that first decat on ebay the other day with that buy it now price or a best offer button too. So if you decide to go for it, haggle with him! (the £38 one that is)

the cars been fine with the matrix bypassed, but need to do it before the chill sets in cos the mrs will only moan otherwise! I ve ordered a matrix from vdubgirl, should be here this week. Then I ve got the joy of fitting it! But I have ordered a ramair pro ram, mega leads and new plugs too to make me feel better!

can anyone point me in the direction of a how to guide for changing the heater matrix in my golf VR6 please? Basically i want to know how far i ve got to go with taking out the dash? For now im just going to disconnect the 2 hoses by the bulk head and rejoin them via a piece of copper pipe (bypass the matrix) so i can still use the car until i get time to do the matrix. Cheers for any help

All of the heating console lights are out on my '93 VR6. It was like it when i bought it, im gonna attempt to change the bulbs and hope this sorts it! Anyone know the best place to get the replacement bulbs and are they easy to do without breaking bits of trim?!

Can any one do me a favour and tell me what colour wire on the wiring loom for the stereo in my mk3 golf VR6 does what? I need to know what colour is what speaker and the rest of the wires are. Normally id just look in my haynes manual but i cant seem to buy one for the VR6, any help much appreciated!!
