    Is it possible to convert 5dr golf front seats to tip forward like in a three door. Has anyone done it? If so I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Just a quicky - how may hours labour should I get charged for having a new steering rack put in? Also, what other bits should I get changed while its being done? TIA

    I have the same with mine, ive checked all the wiring and its all ok, but still I cant get any MW and very very very poor FM, its so bad i cant actually listen to it. My last Mk3 had a front wing mounted aerial which worked a treat.

    Its a total nightmare. I've given up flushing mine. It just goes brown after every flush. Having looked at the inside of the coolant hoses, they are caked in brown solid deposits.

    I need a new rubber belt (one which runs alternator etc..), had a look on GSF and there are two types, ones just under a tenner the other is just under £30. Anyone replaced one in the past - if so how much did you pay?

    The whirring noise happens on all VR's when you press the recirculation button. Somone once had an explanation, but I cant remember it.

    Im sure i remember one with a tiny golf driving up a house of cards. The ad was showing the toruqe of the car. I THINK it was a golf VR6 but it was so long ago. The advert had the car racing some sort of insect while oriental men bet on the outcome.

    Are you sure its a coating from the factory? I thought this was happening in my old Mk2, but it turned out to be years of the previous owner spraying 'back to black' stuff all over the place.

    Is it the engine shaking? Mine did this when I had some dodgy HT leads on there while my Magnecor ones were getting repaired last week. Got new leads on and the 'shake' was gone. Check for visible sparks from the coil pack & the ends of the leads above the spark plugs in the dark.

    I have about 500 CD's and I find it a pain to find the right one and put it in the CD tray (im very lazy). So i'm hoping to stick it all on my hard drive and listen to them via my HiFi.

    I've finally connected my PC to my HI-fi, as I'm going to take the plunge and transfer my CD's to my PC. Whats the best encoder to use? Mp3/M4a/Apple lossless etc... I have no clue. Sound quality is more important to me rather than tiny file sizes. I would also like to convert them into something which is backed by the industry as I dont want it being obsolete in 12 months. Ta.

    Yes, very normal. My oil temp reads about 104 when doing 90-100mph.

    It's part of the gearbox/clutch mechanisim. If you waggle it / push it down you'll notice your gearstick moving inside the car. Its basically a weight to give feel to the gearstick (i think!).

    You can use the bottom rad hose to empty the system, but from experience it doesnt remove all the coolant. There is a drain plug on the VR6, its located on a plastic pipe which runs horizontaly on the front of the engine. You can get at the drain plug from below the car using a long screw driver. The plug will need replacing - couple of quid from VW. Heater controls should be on HOT when draining. I refill via the expansion tank. Just refill using a funnel, and very slowly to lower the amount of trapped air - you'll always get some, so you need to run the engine until the rad fans come on,

    Mine does exactly the same. I've had the door card off and 'had a look'. Couldnt find anything obvious, but I did note that with the door card off it worked perfectly, so as above it might be worth greasing the seals.

    Not too keen on the M5 ones from what I've seen. I'd have to see them on a car TBH. The projectzwo ones look very nice indeed - when are the copies ready PM me if you get a decent copy sorted. I've just checked the Cult ones out, and they do look nice, but not too sure about the fit as from what Ive read on here their boot plinth thing is a really bad fit.

    Pete, The 'click here to see a list of new items' doesn;t work properly for me. The stats above said '48 forum posts', but when I click 'New items..." I only get about 7 new forum posts. (Also, just a personal preference - I don't like the new layout in the 'New items' bit. Its harder to scan the new posts for threads you may want to see, as the font is so big and there is too much info like poster name, date of post)

    Mines not a highlne either. Do a serach on here for highlines to find out the differences. Only came in black & mulburry etc...
