abs PUMP. help please
shail replied to Caddymatt1380's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Ring up bba reman. Check out this link to their website http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/Product.aspx?product=3638 the part number matches your one. Are you sure its the pump and not the abs ECU? My VR was throwing up all sorts of codes for both the pump and sensors. My mechanic found dry solders in the ABS ECU - he resolderd the joints - hey presto no more ABS light. -

Yes, you should do. Under the square grills in each corner on top of the dash. The grills just pop off. -
Replacing Stereo/speakers this weekend
shail replied to VR66M's topic in I.C.E, Security an Electrical
You can replace the components with two ways if you want. I went with components up front and left the originals in the back. I had to put some additional speaker wire in for the fronts as I have amps and crossovers in the boot. The original speakers have the crossover in the tweeter on the dash, so if you want to run a two way in the door, you'll have to splice the wires that run into the tweeter crossover. I'd go for components up front, having just a two way in the door so low down won't sound too good. Also to note - if changing from Kenwood to Sony, you'll have to bugger around with the -
I bought a refurbished one off someone from this club. Still works, From memory it was stamped with eurocarparts.

I had the same symptoms and it was a dodgy steering rack. Gradually got worse over year, so got it changed.

- Pollen filter (only a few quid and rarely changed, so can start to smell damp) - New sump nut washer

I've had to replace that pipe twice in about 3 years. First time it split along the pipe between the engine and T junction. Second time the T junction sprung a leak. Available from VW for about £45 (!). eurocarparts also do them, but not original VW and a little cheaper. As for the rusty colour - what coolant did you put in? You need G12 Plus from VW or German and Swedish, As putting in the wrong coolant can cause the water to go a rusty colour. Mine is rusty colour and has been since I bought it, even though I change the coolant every year.

Anyone using GSF wheel bearings?
shail replied to NicDale's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I used GSF bearings once, and they didn't last more than a year. Got some VW ones and they have been fine ever since. -
Sure its the pump? My light has been on and off for a couple of years with VAGCOM saying all kinds of things like pump and rear ABS. I had dry solder joints in the ABS ECU which my mech sorted out in about half hour, and now its fine

Tensioner Pulley & Belt Gone...
shail replied to Seademon's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
You'll have to buy the whole pulley and belt I'm afraid. Got mine from GSF. Think the pully was about £50 and the belt was about £15. You will need the parts above and a suitable bolt to thread into the tensioner to release the tension so that you can slip the belt on. -
Check out the FAQ here: http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?156309.post this is how I fixed mine.

£10? Get yourself down Halfords and pick one up for £2!

When my car refused to start it was the braided earth wire on the starter motor which was corroded. I bodged the wire back on with some heavy duty clips which was fine for a year or so, but in the end had to replace the starter.

I had the same trouble but is was rear right. My mechanic removed the ECU, opened it up, found a couple of crakced dry solder joints. He soldered then back up, hey presto, no ABS fault. Took an hour of his time. Worth a go before you shell out for a new ECU

starting problems 95 vr6 highline...Help!
shail replied to mckay82's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
The only things that buzz on the RHS of the engine that I can think of are the auxillary water pump (but that doesnt really sound too electrical) and a cracked coil pack. Can you see any sparks on the coil pack? -
Here are links to some RR results run from VR6OC to give you an idea. Results from Stealth Racing RR day: http://www.clubgti.com/forum/archive/index.php?t-41145.html (results near bottom of page) Not sure where these were done: http://www.vr6oc.com/results.html

Has anyone had this done? What were the results? My ABS light has been coming on intermittently for a while, so at my service at Stealth on Monday they changed the rear right sensor as that was what VAGCOM had said (and I also had a bent stub axle which had knackered the sensor ring...but thats a different story) Anyway, ABS light had come back on. Vince is going to re-solder the ABS ECU joints on Friday as he said rear right ABS sensor fault sometimes points to dry joints in the ECU, What are my options if the above doesn't work?

Depending on the weather I am going to change my thermostat tommorrow. I'm no mechanic, but I do 'have a go' at most things. I shall report back with how it goes. I've bought a thermostat and one sealing ring.
-
The advert says that only 6 were ever made. He wants £7k for it with 74k on clock on a J plate. Ive never heard of them before - anyone shed any light on them for me?
-
Well I need to replace the thermostat anyway as I think its sticking. I just can't seem to find the drain plug on the crack pipe. How's best to access it?
-
I'm trying to drain my coolant by removing the bottom rad hose, but I'm getting no where near 10 litres out of the system - more like 5 Litres. Where is it hiding? and is there anything I can do to get the rest out? I need to flush it all as its a very murky colour and has been for years, regardless of changing the coolant.
-
My Bentley manual says that the coolant level should be MAX when at normal operating temp and between MIN and MAX when cold.

Try Halfords. They do sell the other type of arieal end (ISO) so they may sell your type (DIN). If they dont sell the DIN type, you could but the ISO type and then buy the second product on this website: http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_fitting_kits/antenna_adaptors.htm that way if you do change your headunit in the future you'll have bothe ISO and DIN available to you
