does it sound ruff and kind of grind to a stop? Its very lightly your window reg mechanism has failed. Very common fault. Your lucky tho because its normaly the drives side that goes, making them rare to find on the bay, Shouldn't be to hard to come across one on the bay... There £75-80 new from VW Take the door card off and have a look at the cables, Normally you can see them all chewed up Hope this helps Tom

right, rubbed it back down again Now more happy with the shape wipe over with these, You should do this before every coat of paint Let dry and then another coat of high build 1 Hour for that to dry then rub down with 600 Note have ive left the line to do last Not quite happy there so i added another layer (i blame it all on the welding lol) Finally happy with it, Flat the line with thin strip as to not make the flats uneven Now i pushed the seals down and im going to flick them back up with the knife after its fully dry Clean all the shizzle out Masked up for Grey primer Two c

VR6 highiine drivers window problem
Phat VR6 replied to VRcrew69's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
If there No noise from the motor turning then first thing you check if the fuels, Guessing its not blown because your drivers side works but check anyway Next get your door card off and with a multimeter Check you have power at your motor when you press the switch. If you have then you have a fault motor. If you have no power at the motor then check for power at the switch. check both sides of the switch for live, If you got live in but no live out (when you press it) Then you need a new switch, Still no live to the switch you gotta look for a brake in a wire in the loom somewhere Hope th -
i like it, and the door handles and filler cap, Probaly a good time to ask what colour black that is and the paint code lol? Also are the rear lights standard?

lol, clocks and bay are mint on the mk1, And the blue mk3 is my favorite -
Don't like the sound of that,, I want to do mine in black and dark grey check. try it again and see how you go with that other shizzle, Anyone else done a good DIY job?

If there not seized then there not seized, you only need to adjust them once really, Ive herd alot of people say mine seize but they lasted 3 years without seizing, Now there protected with motor bike chain lube so should be fine Mine (supersports) are very bumpy, Id say more bumpy than FKs but i like it, So do all my mates,, My dad hates it tho, Def a BIG BIG improvident over standard but its not a £700 koni race spec suspension, Nor did i expect it to be costing me £250

It was the TT, Mk4s a lot easier to do apparently

engine mounts guide/walkthrough
Phat VR6 replied to lowvr's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
how did you get on with your ARB dude? Right gearbox side Undo the top bolt that goes thought the gearbox bracket and into the mount and remove then surport the engine/ gearbox (more on the gearbox side) so it lifts up a tad Undo the 3 13mm bolts that hold bracket onto the gearbox and remove (give you alot more space to work with) Now undo and remove the 2 15mm ( i think) that hold the mount into the cup on the sub frame Pull the mount out, New gearbox mount in and put to together and you removed Front one Remove top bolt that goes though engine/ gearbox bracket Jack engine up slowly as much -
did it ever go over 90? half way? Can't work out if its over heated of not?? Sounds like there's nothing wrong with it to me.

Think i'm going to buy a cheep kit from the US and risk it. The temptation of trying to mod it to fit RHD for the money is to much for me lol Probably add full APR bolt set, headspacer and C2 software to the somthink like the bigger kit from above. Will a inline fuel pump and injectors be needed aswell?

Phat VR6 replied to Lizard Racing's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
daily most likely and I hardly ever drive like a loon anyway' date=' Alex [/quote'] Surly you do. Why else you would build it? Do you ever track it or drag it? Aren't you interested in what 1/4 mile time it will do? -
312mm brake conversion (TT setup) write up / DIY
Phat VR6 replied to Mark.'s topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Nice write up, Any idea how much the carriers are from VW? or is there a cheaper place to get them? You forgot to mention that you need to take the cap off the brake reservoir before you start! If you don't when you push your pots back it damages your master cylinder -
lower the engine and gearbox down a few " and it will give you enuff room to get it out of the chassie leg Have you been using the right bit? There not star bits, I caught my mate trying to get them out with 6 side star bits but there are a fine 10 sided bit. I welded 13mm nuts onto the end to sort him out

There is normally more like 2" (if you pull it in and out) of play on the inner cv joint. This is really confusing because its impossible for it to pop out unless you've badly curbed it or a ball joint has snapped, As VR6 vdf has said there's got to be something not right under there All though there's grease inside the CV joints i really do think one of them will have collapsed inside. If everything else looks good then its the only thing that could have happened, That or your 2 rear engine mounts have broken lol

nice.. The only VW i wouldn't mind leaving standard .have you got any plans for it?

Cheers dude. I'm nearly there now. If i'm honest it has got abit scary at times and i questioned if i should have started it in the first place :-d I'm not in any rush as im kind of liking the red tail gate for a rat rod kind of look lol Next few days and the tail gate should be on and i can give the car a good clean
