The boxes are repairable if you catch them in time. The casing expands around the diff bearing (whine or rumble) and the bearings shoot out and blow a hole in the casing (bang). I repaired mine for 80 notes, when it was rumbling it's nuts off in every gear. Try the oil change first as cabrioman mentioned.

Take the car back off them if they right it off. The 1/4 is defo repairable, second hand door, and paint 1/4 , door and wing. I wouldn't sacrifice the car for what seems like light damage. Do you know any sprayers/beaters?

A big thank you to Frank Lampard for helping Liverpool on their way to victory. Last time Liverpool did the league double on Chelsea, we won the league. Watch this space Manchester!

Air con removal and radiator approx cost
Bigjobbo replied to The Monk's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I agree with you, but in a small way. Take the pump off, standard aux belt will fit, but keep the belt and the pump so you can lob it back on when you sell it. The a/c rad and pipe's are really light, so it's down to the individual on removing those. All in all, as mentioned prior, about 3kg weight save, but would expect fuel economy to be better rather than power. Good luck though -
Engine bay, bulk head below the brake master cylinder, two pipes, a feed from the brake master cylinder, and a feed to the slave. Black plastic units on those i think. The slave cylinder is in the box, part of the release bearing i think, which is probably what your mechanic is talking about. Check your invoice and see if lists the part number and cross it with TPS.
-
This is a common problem, there is a modified cylinder available, so it could be worth checking if a genuine part was fitted.
-
I'd say it was the master cylinder that was the problem. Try and get a look at the shiny new one. Also, if it has been changed, try bleeding it again.

LM 2 is what i be using -
40kg max I've got a curl bar with 40 on it and it aint that heavy from what i remember, just bloody awkward. Would be keen to know the result.

Just to clarify, before you order parts, the one on the bulkhead is the master, and the one on the box is the slave. Any clutch slip?

2003 V6 4Motion front passenger door won't open

You can do it, but he didn't mention that the cable has a little clip at the end to secure it to the inner handle so try not to pull it off too far when your releasing the clips.I think the window reg has to come off to get to the lock mechanism. -
clicking noise from dash/engine bay near relays

Is it when you put your ignition on? If it's N/S, it sounds like heater box area. Possibly a vent/flap motor sticking or slipping Check that all the air and heat distribution is working correctly. -
Blimey thats dirt cheap. is that really all it needs? I'd say you'd be looking at 9 ton plus VAT for engine and fitting at an independent. Ask them to source the engine and get some sort of warrantee. Might turn out cheaper to repair depending on how far you want to go.

I've driven a few of the 2.0 tsi, which are nice and quick, but it's the chassis, and the sports suspension button that does it for me. In a straight line the VR in standard form would take em, but on the twisties we'd have no chance. Even drove the TDI with a DSG box today, and i have to say..not bad at all. I would highly recommend the tsi though.

Has to be MK1 for me. The original is always best. Purely for character, and impact. There are certain cars in the list that don't really suit the term hot hatch, but the ones that do, really just followed in the MK1's footsteps.

Mine was at work also. Doing a column on a stolen astra when i was an apprentice. Started her up when i was finished, and started getting all my tools out of the footwell. i slipped into deep thought and started day dreaming, until my tech ran over shouting at me to turn it off and dragged me out of the car. Turns out i was mullered from the fumes of the petrol that was leaking out of a cut fuel pipe underneath.

When you flash someone out of a side road with your car staionary and they just sit and stare at you for maybe 5 seconds.... speed bumps and unconfident and over confident drivers. I am easily lip read, when i meet these people on the road.

Had my card cloned a few months back. 4 attempts to use my card for transactions. 3 in Sri Lanka and one in Australia! Luckily i didn't lose any money as my account had never been used from outside the UK.. ever. Which is pretty sad i know, but lucky. I confirmed that any money had been taken would have been returned to me by the bank as soon as i could prove i had no links to the transactions. Your banks fraud dep. will investigate, and catch the little shit, this is why it may be a drawn out process. Gutted for you mate.

Sounds like air to me. How did the air get in? Had any work done recently? Bleed it first, see if it solves it. If it comes back, you can start checking for leaks.
-
Blimey, you make it sound very grim! If you've took the head off, i assume you have mechanical know how, and you fear the worst. A loud tick should be reasonably easy to determine wether it's coming from the head or the block, and which side. Sorry if this is telling you to suck eggs. Had a similar problem with a previous engine....

Why is the boot of my VR6 turning into a swimming pool..?!?!? ( leak )
Bigjobbo replied to MaxLegroom's topic in Interior
Drill a hole in the wheel well. (Ahhhem) Who said that! Dum Dum is what you need, better seal, lasts longer and you can share it out! We use it to seal all that leaks.
