  1. In general, coffin dodgers produce some of the most irritating driving for me. Their old, and retired, theres lots of things they can do to enjoy their time, driving should not be one of them. Two words sum up all that annoy me, potter and mincing. In general, both meaning to loiter without intent or travel slowly with no idea of your goal. Wu saaa.
  2. Like said. Glove up, and hold it straight and knock crap out of it. I use a 4kg copper mallet, no cv has failed to come off with this trusty tool.
  3. I got me two wee one's. Girl is 8, lad is 3. :-D
  4. Lovely motor, don't forget your launch control when you send it down the strip, it's a good way to get some good traction off the line.
  5. 8 years driving. Rover 214 SLI VW Golf VR6 '94 VW Golf VR6 '97 Keeping both VR's, R line VW next or an (ahem) M5.

To put it into context, the book figure on the new scirocco TSI is 7.1, and i think the 32 is 6.5, so she is still holding up. Thing with the V6 is you get a good torque figure, so a 200ps NA 4 pot is pretty similar on acceleration.

By the book it's 7.1, a lot of factors can stop you from hitting that, launch technique being the guv, and also with your mate in the car depending on his and your weight. VW probably used a jockey to get that time.
  8. multi meter across the battery read your voltage. then move your neg off your meter to your earth points and see if you get a voltage the same. Volt drop should be below .5 of a volt. I reckon ignition switch though. Clean up all earths and starter connections with abrasive paper.
  9. Hmmm a bit coincedence this one. Was it the rain or has something gone while you lifted the bonnet? Would suspect water ingress first. How long was the bonnet open for? Was it drenched?
  10. Sounds like she'll be lobbin up fault codes. All together now... VAGCOM. It will point you in the right direction.
  11. I've just changed my ignition switch, but when they go the starter solenoid doesn't click. How are you sure it's not the immobilizer? Have you bridged the starter while it's on the car? Does it engage?
  12. I agree. Take the immobiliser out of the starter circuit but leave the fuel pump on.
  13. Have you got the right battery on it. Check the output on it.
  14. sounds like pump. Not too bad to change. Guide in the premium members section.
  15. Is it knocking that loudly? Try greasing it up see if it gets quieter, try to single it out. Pinion play in the rack can cause a knock, also check track rod ball joint play (inner) see if there is play.
  16. Did you operate them all from the drivers door, or did you try each switch on each door?
  17. Owners discretion. I don't think there is a service interval on any modern car for gear oil, based on the fact that it is a sealed unit. If your your engine is standard, and the box isn't taking abuse, i would personally change it at 100k.
  18. Grub screw on the top and multi splines on the bottom, i think, check strap and loom. If your fitting a new door, strip it on the car and then take it off. Check condition of window reg while your delving.
  19. If the fault comes back, at least you know it's the sensor. I've cleared faults before, but as soon as the conditions are met, the ecu throws it up again, can take 1 drive or one year! Hope it isn't in your case, 5 months is too damn long.
  20. Would suggest to me that the switch is knackered, or there is a short in the loom between the switch and dash pod.
  21. Just to add, most cars will pull left due to the camber on the roads. Best way of telling other than forking out is uneven tyre wear/scrubbing. You could always drive in the middle of the road and see if it still pulls. In all honesty a noise on turning can be a number of things, so it's hard to point out. I do not condone driving in the middle of the road by the way.
  22. Well said. Her fault. My friend went to court over this and he got nailed. Someone has mis-informed her of the hit from behind rule.
  23. Thread revival. Any more new Live members? CODWAW anyone? Bigjobbo is the tag, and you won't be getting a beating from me as i'm pants at it.
  24. Mine is doing this also, it sat at 90 always until i did the water pump. I have put it down to the cold weather. Not checking it until it starts to get warmer!
