  1. hi all im sorry if this has been asked before but i cant seem to find the info i want. i currently have a 2.8 97 obd2 vr which has done 163k and is tired and i think valve stem seals are on there way out as its smoking quite alot with oil smoke, my question is how much gain will be noticed from putting a low mileage 2.9 engine in converted to obd2 and can i use the bits from my current set up to do this? i can afford to get another engine on a stand to work on and swap it once its done as i dont really need the car everyday do i need to change the head or can i use the obd1 head? will i need t
  2. my gearbox is a LITTLE whiny and has done 143k miles also when you let off the car seems to slow down pretty quickly so it needs to be driven on throttle all the time. will any vr6 gearbox fit as in corrado/golf/sharan or is it model specific? any help would be much appreciated.
  3. i have a 97 golf vr6 obd2 do i have an oil cooler as i have never seen one and dont want to get head gasket and everything done if it could be tthat this has broken down inside. cheers chris
  4. have had problems with my car for a while with vacuum and things in cooling system on sunday my water pump was pissing out put 4.5litres of water in it driving 150 miles at 70! decided to get this fixed but now having headgasket done too. booked for monday 6th am having headgasket, new water pump, new aux water pump, thermostat and housing, both timing chains, snake belt and head reconned. have been given a price of £760 all done and with £305 parts from gsf and the head roughly £250 for recon i think thats pretty good. is this good and has anyone else used paul inch in plymouth?
  5. how hard is the water pump to change i have coolant dripping down from behind pulley? is it the pump or something else?
  6. anyone know where i can get cheap poly bushes for the front of my vr want antiroll bar subframe and power steering mount depending on ease of fitting. cheers chris
