  1. You can temporarily dis-engage the haldex 4wd system (so I've heard) so it's effectively just 2wd so you can do power runs on 2wd rollers. Vince would be able do confirm this or give more detail.
  2. Do you get it going over bumps and does it sound as though its from the rear or front of the car? Sounds like worn out bump stops possibly. Shouldn't be too long a job for a garage to replace them all.
  3. Ram-air's are one of the loudest air filters around - I haven't heard one but pretty sure they howl pretty loudly. Not sure what the squeaky noise could be though.
  4. You're very close to the phirm - give them a call and they'll check over your car - very good value vr specialist and friendly guys down there. I would think you're looking at £50-100 depending on labour - but I may be totally wrong!
  5. Stick to stock VW clutch (its very good and some after market ones are a lot less reliable) unless you are going for big big power - i.e turbo.
  6. Was it hooked up to VAG-COM when they did the run? Did it bring up any sensor faults? Hall/cam sensor fault could cause a large drop on bhp - as much as 30bhp. Could be worth replacing that - very quick job cheap for a garage to do. Failing that it could be that the timing is out which will result in a large drop in power. The rolling road diagnostic should have highlighted any irregularities in the timing etc - that's if the tester knew the correct parameters - Vince at Stealth is the place to take your car. He will diagnose and sort your car out. £50 rolling road session at Stealth Ra
  7. I've got the gmax kit on standard wheels too and have no problems. It has been really good. They are normally a really good reliable kit. They are all guarenteed for 3 years so if there is something wrong get it replaced mate.
  8. Nice modified Golf - what engine have they put in it?
  9. Stunning performance from that AMG!
  10. Turbo is more than double the price.. lengthy labour involved to deal with the right hand drive uk car. Around 5k mark for turbo and full set up. Very good power - around 400bhp. Supercharger can be done for around the £2k mark - NS Racing do second hand refurb ones - dub25 on here knows them and can find out if they have them in stock. The power for basic stage is around the 250-280bhp mark. If you have the dosh and want the ultimate performance then turbo is the one to go for but a charger is a good option as you can take it off and sell it separately when you sell the car, as it is bolt
  11. My car's battery ran flat after only 3 weeks of doing nothing... but I think that battery was on its way out as that was a short amount of time for a battery to run flat so soon.
  12. It will vibrate a bit, it will rock back and forth when you apply power and then let your foot off the gas. Not noticed anything different in a particular rev range though. Is the power delivery nice and smooth when on the road?
  13. A remap shouldn't be affected by the battery being disconnected or the ecu being reset. As far as I know the remap involved a chip being being soldered onto the current chip (re-chip process) at least thats what Stealth said they do, so resetting the ecu shouldn't affect anything at all as the ecu will relearn everything again once it's operational. The settings are all in the re-chip. I may be wrong though! best to ring Vince at Stealth. let us know the answer mate
  14. Or to throw a spanner in the works what about mystic blue - looks deep dark blue normally but shines with a distinct purple tint in the sunlight. A lot of people who've seen my car think it's purple then see it another day when it's cloudy and get confused as it's changed colour! The mulberry purple above is nice and you could probably get it looking more "shiny" than the black as it is quite a deep colour, but black is equally good in my eyes. Bit of a hassle getting your logbook all changed too if you completely change the colour of your car.
  15. It says it is for tyres. Can you use this on plastic trim too? My rear spoiler is faded too. How do you apply it as if it's a spray I'll have to mask up a lot of the paint work to prevent it getting on the rest of the bodywork. Or can you apply it with a brush or similar? That first link looks good stuff but it's pretty expensive and also a spray, looks good though. I've tried lots of "bumper black" products and they've all been useless.
  16. Milltek twin jet (twin exit) is what I have and it looks and sounds perfect. Very good quality and quite a few people on here have it.
  17. Change the thermostat first and see how you get on. I suspect it's your thermostat as I had a similar problem. Thermostat is probably sticking slightly and if it does stick fully as it did in my case your car will overheat quickly. Best get it done asap
  18. Try cleaning it and see if that makes a difference... let us know how you get on mate
  19. I'd stick with it too. Kev haywire has an awesome corrado vr6 that is charged if not turboed now and it has similar mileage to yours. Very strong engines. 130k miles is nothing. I still think the mk3 golf is the nicest looking out of all the subseqent golf models, bar the mk4 R32. A charged mk3 will far outperform most newer heavier cars. If it doesn't make it by inters don't worry ...just how it is unfortunately. Your car will be better than most when it's done. A lot of work has clearly gone into it .. will all pay off in the end mate
  20. Did you refurb them yourself? Stunning wheels mate. I've been thinking about refurbing my own standard bbs multispokes. Going to try and do it myself...one day
  21. When the guy says it has a full service history make sure it has been every year (as it would have covered well less than 10k miles a year), otherwise walk away. FSH is vital. The extra stereo, wheels, any mods etc never add value to a car. The only thing in the car's favour is the good low mileage. Parkers normally do a conversion table for the amount of miles it is less than average and gives you the amount to add on based on the car's age (it's not normally a huge amount definitely not £600-800 extra on top of book value in this car's case that the seller has added on). I would offer £2
  22. Could be your suspension making the noise going over bumps or doing hill starts or putting the handbrake on hills. Normal for them to be slightly creaky in hotter weather. Could be worth checking your bump stops. As for the pulling to the left could try changing all your tyres to BF Goodrich G-force profilers - do it when you next need new tyres of course. My car used to do what you mention and then it all went away when I had these tyres fitted... was quite surprising. Car now drives in a straight line when I take my hands off the wheel!
  23. Yeah you can't normally go wrong with multispokes like that - one thing I love about the R32. Personally would prefer them in silver. I've personally stuck with the standard multi-spoke bbs and on a lowered car they look very good when they're nice and shiny.
