  1. Hiya guys, I know it is frustrating having another timing chain thread but i cant seem to find the answers im looking for. I am only a student but im planning on purchasing a vr6 very soon, but iv heard a lot of horror stories about the timing chains snapping. What i wanted to know is the cheapest I can get the timing chains and tensioners replaced, Id travel anywhere as long as it is cheap? Anyone who has had theres done, Id appreciate it if you could give me some prices including parts. Cheers guys
  2. Cheers for the reply Yaseen. You are a bit like me, I get fed up looking for cars for a long time and end up buying the next best thing, lol. So u reckon 2800 is a bit too much for a car of this spec? If i was to offer him around 2200 would that be reasonable? Sorry for all the questions but i dont want to make another mistake Cheers, Mo
  3. Thanks for the advice guys. So VR6Pete do you reckon £2800 is too much for that car? Any more advice on the value of this car would be much appreciated
  4. havent they got like 190bhp standard. Anyway, im pretty sure he is set on 2800 because wen I had a word with him about his car, he thought it was a bargain. I dont want to make the mistake I have made in the past and pay more than the cars worth.
  5. Alrite ppl. Theres a local guy selling a vr6 and I wanted to know what you think it is worth. Heres the spec: - 1996 (N) VW Golf VR6 5dr Manual Dragon Green Metallic Paintwork 52k genuine mileage with FVWSH 1 previous owner (so the local guy is the second owner from new) 200 odd bhp (ECU remapped, de-catted, full straight through exhaust system) 17" BBS Alloys £1000 Alpine Sound Install Car is in immaculate condition. 6 months tax and 9 months MOT I have done a parkers valuation and they value it at £2600, but with all the extras what would you think it is worth? Cheers
  6. Arite ppl. Not sure this thread is in the right section but here i go anyway. I am planning on purchasing a mk3 golf which has been converted into a vr6. as it is still declared as a 2.0 GTi how would i go about insuring it? I want to avoid any inspection of my car after an acident so if i was to insure it third party, fire and theft, would an insurance inspector come visit me after an accident or not? Cheers
  7. Alrite ppl, I have a 1995 Volkswagen Golf 1.6CL and have decided to carry out a VR6 conversion on this. From what I have heard this is possible so if u beg to differ let me know . What I am planning to do is purchase a golf vr6 as a donor car for all the parts needed as I have been told to do it this way as buying parts seperately ends up being very expensive as you never know what part u need until u found out its missing. What I would like to know is if u guys out there know of any places that can do this for me as I will be supplying all parts but from the donor car so the cost involved wil
