  1. How much did it cost for a garage to supply and fit your six branch manifold? Is it similar to a "Shrick" manifold? I'm not sure what a shrick manifold is but there's a lot of talk about it on here. What air filter did you go for? Did you need your ECU remapped as well to cope with the increase fuel/air ratio? I'm in West Sussex. Are there any good VW tuners who know what they are doing and could fit a 6 branch manifold etc? Has anyone heard of GCS Engineering?   2. Hi I've just got a totally standard (no mods) Golf VR6. I want to keep the car subtle without going over the top but I would like more power if possible. My main plan is to add a cat back stainless system exhaust (one that is subtle and not too loud in normal revs - but has a nice roar when you floor it). Possibly thinking about a Magnex or Milltec exhaust. But what are the main differences? My other plan was to have some kind of performance air-filter. However I've heard heat soak is a major issue with the v6 engine so the air filter would have to have it's own housing that sheilds it f
  3. Hi this BMC air filter sounds pretty good and effective. How much are they? Does it have it's own air filter housing similar to the standard air filter housing?
  4. With decent modifications you could come close to keeping up with a standard UK spec Impreza (which has 208-215bhp standard). Imprezas mid to top range acceleration are their weak spots. Forget off the line races. 4 wheel drive will always win. If it's a WRX (Japanese import) definitely forget it. They are much lighter than the UK version and have 240 to 280 bhp standard..most will be close to 300 with just a performance exhaust and air-filter. However many of these Jap import imprezas go bang as the drivers don't know how to drive them or have the money to actually look after them for more
  5. Hi I've just bought a standard 1997 (P-reg) Golf VR6. It's done 70k miles. As standard I believe it has around 174bhp. Please can anyone tell me what modifications are available for my engine, what kind of power gains for each and approx costs for a good company to supply and fit? I understand fitting a performance exhaust and air filter won't make a big difference to power as the standard one is quite good already. Although I was thinking about fitting a cat-back magnex exhaust mainly to make my car sound better and the current standard one is getting rusty. Is magnex a good make to go f
