  1. Aux belt tensioner or water pump?
  2. Do you have a key to turn the siren off under the bonnet? If so it may be in the off position, so it won't sound when the rest af the system is 'going off'.
  3. Not been on the site for a while, but I have a handheld reader you could have used (but saying that, it is for OBD2). I live in Ilkley, infact I'm sure I saw you, or someone in a very similar Corrado to the one in your avatar, driving towards Ilkley on saturday afternoon. I was In a Dragon green golf VR.
  4. Best I got was 41.2 mpg, got a photo on my phone but nokia only supply software for pc's and as I am a Mac user, can't download it!
  5. Mine idles around 650 to 700 when it's warmed up too, with no probs at all!!
  6. Goooodaaaaafternoon sir, basically I'm ringing about your bank account!
  7. Pete is still alive, he was round my house Saturday night, totally wasted. I think he just wants some time off! I'm up for a meet soon, but can't do last Sunday this month!
  8. Get a code reader/ VAGcom on it to read any codes.

"George" is a quality character. "Can I have your bank account details and sort code, it is perfectly innocent", pure class!
  10. Thanks for the help Kalv, it was the oil cooler water hose that had split in a couple of places. I replaced it last night and all seems well, touch wood!
  11. Cheers, It looks like it's the oil cooler pipe, so I've got one on order from VW. The plastic rail looks in good order, and the water doesn't appear to be coming from there. I'll have to be careful taking the oil cooler pipe off, so I don't snap off the plastic lug. Hopefully have it sorted tomorrow or Sunday.
  12. Kalv, When you say water rail do you mean the plastic pipe running across the engine that has the oil cooler pipe attached? If so I think that may be what it is after talking to my dad, who has been looking at it whilst I'm at work.
  13. Today on the way to work I had to do some rapid overtaking, as soon as I pulled back in I got the water temp light flashing so pulled over to have a look. The water was down to nearly the bottom of the header tank, with water sprayed all over the top of the oil filter and surrounding area, but I could see steam that seemed to be rising from the aux belt side of the engine. I filled up with water and steadily drove it to my dads (so I could borrow his mk2), but when I got there all the leaked water had dried up and there was no more steam! Anyone know if any pipes are prone to giving up in this
  14. I got it done by Cleckheaton Gearbox and Clutch Centre (see link), just outside of Bradford. It was £550 all in which inc my car towing 20 miles, recon box, all labour and a 2year/24000 mile guarantee. And I've now had it upto 41.2mpg now the 'box has bedded in! http://www.cleckheaton-gearbox-centre.co.uk/
