  1. i knew you'd come back ian! lol one or two mkII vr6's at most on here [ Edited Fri Jun 25 2004, 10:40PM ]
  2. never done it myself, but doubt it'll be that hard.
  3. mileage isn't stored on the ecu on these is it? to be honest, i think your engines kind of worn out (or in need of a full rebuild) at that mileage GeastB, i'd pop the new one in.
  4. its not perfect (dont think i got all the crap out), but it is a vast improvment. but i had something else happen last night, was coming back from buckmore round the M25 and got a weird 'stutter a couple of times...my mate thought i'd moved my foot of the pedal really quick and then jumped back on it again. any ideas? was raining if that makes a difference.
  5. everything! it doesn't cover chassis in so much detail, but i have a haynes as well (which doesn't cover the engine)..between the two i've yet to be stumped.
  6. its obd1? ignorw what i've said previously. this is what the bentley manual says to check... -tyres on all 4 wheels must be same size, and correctly inflated. -conventional brake system ok, including brake lights and switches. -check hydraulic lines for leaking, also check abs pump, calipers. -wheel bearig and wheel bearing play ok. -connector to abs control module correctly attached. -check terminals and sockets on abs compononents for damage and correct seating. -abs relay or hydraulic pump correctly installed/connected. -all fuses are ok. -battery supply at least 10.5volts. -abs control mod
  7. h/g gives white smoke. could be any o fht eother things you've mentioned...i'm not sure how to diagnose which it is, but i'd be thinkin about changin the engine, as if one of those things is gone it may well mean theres a fair few other things about to wear out.
  8. change the chains and tensioners before you fit it in...thats all i can think of.
  9. get a bentley from amazon, they be superb
  10. how can plastic arches go rusty?!
  11. all tyres are radials these days, and all cars have a brake servo...sounds like that form dates back to the 17th century! lol
  12. from what i've found out, its pretty much the same engine. even the coolant hoses are the same. i have heard the cam profiles and ecu map are different, but thats all. they even use vw brakes. the parts, despite even comin in vw bags, are cheaper apparantly. only reason i can't use the chains is that they're obd2 engines, and i'm obd1.
  13. thats a good idea...weaken them! lol not really a big deal, just means i can't get cheap ford parts for my chains now, as they're all obd2 engines in galaxys. while we're on the subject of chains...i'm about to buy some parts, and vw are about twice the price of ecp and gsf!
  14. exactly! it such a stupid idea, the sticks already too far away from the wheel. (if you need quicker shifts, get a quick shift, but then you'll beat the syncros, so basically we're screwed when it comes to fast gearchanges...unless you do what i did and mash the syncros to bits! hehe)
  15. really? what the top chain is single row as well (all have single row bottom chains)
  16. don't shorten the stick...it moves it even further from the wheel. menas longer changes and less control.
  17. i was close with 42...but 43 does sound better actually.
  18. ok, not sure about the link to wipers, and presuming your car is OBD2 ('96 on)... does the light only come on below 12mph, or switch of when you go quicker than 12mph? if so, it a 'sporadic malfunction of a sensor' according to the big bentley book. presume it means wheel sensor. unfortunatly thats all it say

    VR6 Vs BMW M3

i haven't looked into it that much tbh' date=' i only found out they had asjustable diffs the other day, its only the very newest shaped WR1. only reason i suddenly got interested is that i've been hearing that the MY99 type cars hace cronic understeer...and i can't deal with any more understeer in my life! kina of my thoughts...i've driven a couple and they've impressed me. no winding up needed like the vr6. they feel very reasured on the road. pretty similar to vr6's really...good but not perfect.
