  1. i know of someone selling a '96 highline, totally standard, fVWsh, but 109K...will prob be less than your max price though.
  2. how often do you check the oil level/have the car serviced?
  3. how stiff have you got the koni's adjusted to? if its on fully stiff it'll be very harsh!
  4. can't imagine its that hard really. hard bit may be pressing the bearing in.
  5. theres two options...you can just ad a 6th gear without touching the others, or you can use the current 5th gear as 6th, then close up the rest of the gears (this be the best option). cost is around £1500 i think, plus £500 for a ATB.
  6. yep...top stuff. there is one downside tho...it can make the wipers smear a little bit if you need to use them at low speed. the rain-X only starts to work at 40mph plus. but at speeds over that you simply don't need to use the wipers. best is on an unlit motorway at night, when theres a mental rain shower...everyone else has their wipers on full speed, and i don't even have mine on! lol can use it on visors too, though i found it doesn't work a single seater as the airflow hits the visor at the wrong angle (the front of the cockpit deflects the air).
  7. nah, the vr6 is a 02A 'box (but with different ratios to a gti one), and the 18T has an 02M...it can be fitted but is lots of work, and not really worth it. so stick to the vr6 one. may be worth seeing if yours is repairable though. there are some good upgrades available for the vr6 02A 'box, such as a 6 speed conversion, and a quaife ATB diff. you can also fiddle with the final drive ratio to alter the ratios.
  8. i'm sure i've read somewhere that you can have the ecu fiddled with so the immobiliser software is removed.
  9. its the rear 'blade' runner that will wear out (the bolt thingy goes into it), check it very carefully. i'm not sure its worth lighteneing the flywheel, its pretty damn light already (for a flywheel). nothing else worth doing if the bottom end is in good condition.
  10. i dont have a digi cam! got a mates here, but it has only a few pics left on the card, and he didn't leave the cable, so haven't took any.
  11. i have braided fuel hoses (£10 a metre from DT, hose finishers £5 each)
  12. don't post pics like that...i'll wanna get some!
  13. no such thing as a steering wheel thats too fat!
  14. i thought all highlines were 3 door?! be warned, theres lots of 'fakes' out there, especially on ebay. highlines only come in purple and black, and it says highline on the reg document. you can get a non-highline that is identical spec to a highline though, and theres nothing wrong with that (i'd actually prefer a silver non-highline to a genuine highline myself)
  15. i destroyed one a nova years back cause i had no bumpstop on one of the shocks (didn't know much about cars, and didn't realise) and the steering felt very 'slack'
  16. £5k for a highline max, £2.5k for SC kit (i'd want a schrik vsr manifold first mind (£1.5k) and a suspension kit and/or uprated arb's)
  17. when it comes to brakes, if you're not sure what you're doing - tak eit to a garage, its not worth the risk.
  18. £200 is the cost of a pair of eibach uprated anti roll bars
  19. make sure you get a flywheel from a repetable company...if a flywheel lets go it'll rip through the bell housing, and through the rest of the car (either front end, bonnet, or come into the passenger compartment.
  20. yep, appears to be in neutral (moves both ways), tried levering. i'll give it another go when i actually get the 'box out (dont ask!)
