  1. i've been offered a highline for £4k! lol but i hate dull coloured cars, and i've also passed the point of return with mine...i've spent loads fixing it and there's not much more left to do...so , touch wood, it'll be perfect soon.
  2. well, yours is a dizzy obd1...so i'd say yep it does have a coil (follow the ht laed that doesn't go to the plugs ; ) ), but it could be a fair few things, does sound like water penetration though...gotta work out where now.
  3. quite common...too much rear lowering will screw up the brake balance.
  4. all the bloke wrote donw was engine speed sensor...so would be cam sensor.
  5. no idea...i'm after one to (got to be a pre '96 car tho - later ones dont have them)
  6. tomarto motorsport or football?
  7. done fault codes last week (so haha), showed up speedo sensor prob (obvious as speedo dont work), cam sensor (but suspect engine was off when checked), and ISV prob (adaption speed not reached - whatever that means. suspected that was cause it wasn't idling)
  8. have just changed to poly bushes all round, and changed ball joints. lowering springs, original shocks. never had any probs before fitting the bushes/balljoints. also had new tyres so thought it was weird cause of that, but they're bedded in now and its feeling even more dodgy. when on motorway at even normal speeds (60mph), if i'm on the throttle everythings fine, but the second i lift off the steering goes very light and the car starts wandering around at the front. is it the my shocks are now completely finished? or could it be something else? all the bolts that were recently undone seem
  9. could it still be the ISV...which i've cleaned twice now...it wouldn't idle when cold at first, then i cleaned it, then it started stuttering on the motorway on long trips, cleaned it again, and still stutters. how much is a new ISV?
  10. dos it cut out when you're on the throttle or off the throttle? if on it could well be the ISV...but its so hard to guess whats wrong with a vr6 as they're so complicated. best thing is to have the ECU fault codes diagnosed, a vw specialist should be able to do it for about £25 max. you get a pic, by hosting your pics on a hosting site, such as http://www.photobucket.com, then pasting the link into the 'signatures' box in your profile with {img} and {/img} at each side of it - but switch the { and } for [ and ] - i can't do in the post or it tries to show a image. also make sure the pic is onl
  11. try elephant, and add a parent as a second driver...will bring quote down a fair bit. also may be worth putting the excess up (wouldn't go over £500 though), this will bring the premium down.
  12. done a couple of modeartely long journeys and after a while on the motorway, the car starst stuttering a little bit. usually when at about 70mph. its getting more often as well. any ideas?
  13. the only way to set up coilovers exactly is to have access to a corner weight guage...most rally preparation places can do this...but you'll wanna set it to how many people are usually in the car, as its changes the number of people you have. the vr6 is a heavy engine, much heavier than a gearbox, which is why it is lower at that side.
  14. very ture kev...and anyone who's ever been within about 5 metres of a vr6 after its been blasted will know they are hot cars.
  15. see, this is the prob with vr6's...theres too many things that can cause the same symptoms. diagnostics is the only simple way
  16. yeah, so i hear...is it on the barcode? mines worn off. its actually the date of manufacture of the wishbones...so if its been changed (possibly due to a shunt) you'll know. its printed on loads of other parts as well.
  17. can my mate come in his merc 190E 2.5 16v cosworth?
  18. get the fault codes checked will be the easiest way to diagnose.
  19. i know where theres one you could have on exchange plus a little bit of cash
  20. yeah, its about the world most complex sideskirt...bloody germnas over engineering stuff, think they must have had too much time on their hands!
  21. i'll come....can i have a drive in the westie simey?
  22. well, my lowering springs only lowered the front...i think a lot of lowering kit manufacturers don't like to risk lowering much at the back as it could screw with the brake biasing valve and make you crash (well, on early cars at least).
