    i think type rs are very over rated and the vr is very underrated just because its 'heavy' oh please haha i was told i would regret putting the 6pot in my car over the 2ltr that was in there because of the weight but i love it

    Thought the maf made no difference unplugged on idle on the obd2 cars? It's just what I have read off of various Internet pages. Another thing is, is the chain tight between the two sprokets? If not then it may cause running issues mainly due to the timing being out of phase.

    my mk3 8v gti had 180k on the clock and was still going strong untill i hit the sump and couldnt see any oil leaks then carried on driving it like i stole it, then it blew up hence why i put a vr6 in the shell. but aslong as its looked after regular oil changes etc.

    Haha I don't mind heights but the only time a human shoul be that high is in a plane or helicopter. I would at least want a parachute lol

    could they not think of a way to bring that littel box down instead of them going up ? hell to that job i dont care how much they get paid lol i want atleast a minimum of three harnesses to clip on whether it takes me a day or an hour haha

    Have you tried replacing the expansion tank cap? Sometimes these fail and either don't hold enough pressure or hold too much pressure. Only a couple of quid. Got to be worth a try.

    Mine does the same but I thougt it was because I was using a gti exhaust from when I did the swap. My girlfriend comments that she can feel the heat more when I go faster I never believed her. I'm just going to try the cat I have gotten from a vr6. See if it changes anything.

    What should i use as lubrication? And what brand head gasket? I did buy a cheap on off eBay but didn't use it because it felt cheap and didn't really want to trust it.

    It's quite an old wrench tbh and could well be out of calibration. And I only lubed the washers oops. I'll buy a new wrench and bolts and gasket again. I don't think I can run to a snap on.

    i recently replaced my head gasket, and i managed to do stage 1 and 2 on the tightening side of things however when it came to doing steps 3 and 4 i just couldnt get the bolts to turn anymore and ended up starting to round one off what torque wrenches you all using and what bolts and what driver bit are you using im using halfords pro tools. im thinking that the wrench isnt long enough and the bolts are cheap and too soft.

    thats a nice colour, from experience i would take extra care to get the water out from those arches, when i took mine off i found alot of rust :/ but that is a very good looking car, may i ask why project rainbow?

    will you be able to fit new sills? as in replace the entire sill, as the previous owner jaked it up in the middle of the sill and now has a huge dent in it and rust is starting to settle in.

    jubuzims have you tried replacing the expansion tank cap? i had a problem similer to this basically the cap wasnt releasing the pressure and causing my coolant to boil and spill out. new cap and everything is fine. only a few quid.

    i would go for original, unless ou intend on the engine coming out anyway. for instance smooth bay maybe. it just seems alot of hassle for a colour change. keep it original.

    Yh that's the thing I was given some cheapo leads there's three that are the same size then two short ones that are different thats all. I have managed to have a play and it's running slightly better.

    No I know the order of the cylinders. There correct as in 1-1 2-2 3-3 etc I want to know if I have put the wrong length lead on the wrong plug.
