  1. Hi Guys After killing the MK3 VR and now having to drive a crappy 4 cylinder car, I am really missing a V6. Golf 4mo's can be picked up for reasonable money, so I am considering purchasing one. I am not after a sports car - more a nice tourer with some poke. Anyone on the forum got a 4mo? If so can you share some ownership experience with me please. Whats it like to run in comparison to the VR6? Are they reliable? Being a heavier car, are they gas guzzlers. Any pro's/con's? Thanks in advance. Ranj
  2. Thanks Don, you raise a valid point. I may speak to the insurance company tomorrow and see that they have to say. Despite the work that needs to go into the VR, I still think that despite being such an old car it can still keep up with the best of them, hence the reason I dont want to sell.
  3. Hi Guys, I am stuck with the decision of selling the VR. I originally brought the car as a bit of a restoration type job and planned on keeping it for a while. However due to a possible change of circumstances I will now be driving 100 miles a day which frankly in the VR is not feasable. Now the VR still needs a little bit of work to it. Cosmetically its a bag of shite and needs a respray and all the rust sorting out. Mechanically it needs a new rocker cover gasket and there is now a funny noise coming from the front suspension. However the engine and interior are absolutely mint and to be
  4. LOL Craggsy I bet that must have killed you, a new supercharger and you had to drive the car under 3K RPM. Thats what you call "dangling the carrot in front of the rabbit"
  5. Hi Guys I was reading one the posts earlier and was surprised to know that a turbo corrado gives better mileage than a Schrick fitted NA golf. So I thought lets start a list of cars with their mods and see what sort of MPG people are getting. It may be a good idea to store this info as at some point we may want to know what mods or setups our fellow VR6ers have on their cars. The MPG will be full tank mpg - so half a tank x2 wont count as that wont be accurate. I will start with my rust bucket. Follow the pattern and feel free to list your info. 1996 GOLF VR6 obd2 - 154000 miles - K&N in
  6. So Kev, the moral of the story is get a turbo lol... I was also looking at the NA route but if FI gives better mileage... then bring on the power.....
  7. Nat I think you need to find all of us a daily so the VR can be parked up and enjoyed on weekends.
  8. Despite all the government is taking the piss and need to keep petrol at a reasonable price...
  9. Apparently the radio believes that petrol will go up to £1.40 per litre.... not happy
  10. After 2 months of sitting out in the sidelines watching other people drive their cars, I finally got my VR back on the road today. So my first job was to go to the local petrol station and fill up - £124.9 which equated to £60.51 for 51 litres..... So im thinking can the VR6OC do some sort of deal with shell - im not being greedy but I think 20 % off the retail price of fuel is reasonable... lol Can someone hook it up.....
  11. I think we have a new definition of mint now.... so by that premise most of the cars on here must be concourse...
  12. I posted it for a good laugh. I learnt something new today - Mint means no Rust lol
