    No it's not that it's under the scuttle cover next to the ecu part number is 1h0959625 with a black two pin connection. Well mine looks pretty corroded and rattles so I'm guessing it's broke.

    Can anyone tell me what on erth the temp sensor looking thing is and du next to the ecu? It's obd2 and mounts onto the ecu bracket.

    Is it normal to have some White smoke coming from this when fitting and upto operating tempreture?

    Posi- no longer leaking oil negi- found out I need a vr fuel pump and smells of oil since putting the crankcase breather filter on.

    Well I recently did this swap I used everything apart from fuel pump really which is probably why mine feels lively low down in the rev range but just shouts when I put my foot down.

    Is the fuel pump different on a vr6 compared to a mk3 8v gti?

    right i was looking around the shop and thinking about asking for a fleece for my bday, but it says xlarge on the ad but when you click on it the description it says large. could someone confirm what size this is please and is it only small and x large or could i ask for large?

    Yeh I realise that now learn from my mistakes I found somewhere close to me that does it. How should remove lumps and imperfections from the block? 60-80 grit paper with a flat block of wood? Also what's the ideal thickness spacer plate for F/I ??

    Yh I tightened them all up in the correct order to the correct torque. The only reason I didn't get the head skimmed is because the car isn't overheat I changed it due to spark plug being the same colour ad the coolant and oil in the coolant.

    Yh but it like drips quite bad when parked up that's all enough to cover about an inch square

    Right just recently I have replaced the head gasket on the vr6 after I did it the car felt amazing and still does, however I now have an oil leak which looks like it is coming from around cylinder 6. Now I'm thinking worst case senerio is head is warped ever so slightly. But untill I get a good chance to look I am just thinking where could I go to get the head skimmed and how much am I looking at spending and will I need to take the valves etc out? As close to Loughborough as possible please but don't mind posting it somewhere.

    my problem was the timing have you took the dizzy cap off and had a look at the electodes in the cap and the rotor arm?

    I just changed my head gasket and now my hoses feel firm that's all just wondering whether I have done it right. As I'm off to Devon in October. Cheers for your help

    Anyone ? I just need a yes they should be firm but not rock solid or no they should be soft. Ths is when warm and after a drive.

    A quick question when fully warmed up how firm or hard should my coolant hoses be? That is all .

    Hi I recently did this conversion and not all wires have a spot. Now I don't know why this is but it's just the way it is. Now if I get 5 mins tomorrow I'll jot down which I had left over and let you know.

    Could be absolutly anything but my moneys on something either being damp. Or something that has suddenly weakened. Did the battery die?

    Possible coil pack has gotten damp? Or a hose that's cracked ?

    ahh nice one cheers i need to take the box off any way, as my head gasket has gone and my chain guide has snapped so i may aswell just give it a lick of paint while im there.

    ahh thats not as bad as i was thinking then. i have rust on the bck and when someone came to view the car off of the person i brought it off he slammed the jack into the sill so i have a flat spot my mate did tell him its low but hey some people cant be told lol

    how much and where? as i need some welding doing on my sills and looking at this i may just get new ones depends on the price tho.

    well this is a nice thread dude, while my head is off i may take the gearbox off and paint it looks nice, what paint did you use high temp paint or just normal hammerite?

    It depends what car is it going in, what engine is it replacing ? I did this into a mk3 gti 8v it was fairly straight forward but I had the whole car.
