  1. well all i know is what i have researched and read, and most of the results seem to be impressive there is no harm to the engine running low comp. i cant see why there would be im guessing lowering the compresion is creating a more healthy/ efficient burn of the air/fuel mixture. im sure someone with more know how will tell me more info on it, the only reason i know some bits and bobs is because im studing it at college at the moment.
  2. yes you can run a vr N/A with a decomp plate, petes mk2 had it done and his results were impressive. i asked about this some time ago and those were his words( sort of)
  3. Well not as such lol basically long story short I swapped my gti lump for the vr lump then i had head gasket issues. But now the misses has brought a lupo which means I can work on the car without rushing around. So I'm going to de comp it, do the chains, 6 branch etc then I'm gonna run with it like that untill I can afford a charger. Either super or turbo not sure which yet. Supercharger seems the less complicated route.

  7. ill be going to 7J i was toying between avon and toyo as i used to have avons on it when it was a gti and they seemed a good all rounder.
  8. i couldnt tell you whether to unplug it or not, but the oil gets on the sensors and then it cant read the air going over it to dump the right fuel in. did you clean the filter before you fitted it? if so did you let it dry completely?
  9. is the k&n oiled? if so this could be the cuplrit as the oil kills the maf. which is why alot of people go for the cda.

Right thanks for the information everyone, I shall see what this months bonus pay is then it's all about deciding which wheels I wanna go for So basically it's 17s that are light with max tyre spec of 205/40 ? And a min of 195/40? Or stick with the 16s which I already have. Any tyre recommendations? Not too fussed on price but nothing over re moon at the end of te day there keeping me on the road Once again thanks for the help
  11. My mate just got OZ superturismos and painted them white for his vento and it looks like a 90's touring car. Looks awesome! My next door neighbor had them on his rado vr. They look insane and weigh not very much at all. You got a picture of the vento ?

  14. well i didnt think there would be a big difference only being a whole inch bigger on half in on the radius so not much really. thanks for the feedback im on coilys so i may need arch work :/
  15. im thinking of getting some new wheels in the future im currently on 16" rx2s but the wheels i want i can only find in 17s i was wondering on peoples feedback on them such as corning, acceleration etc.

  19. It did help alot and it seams to be slightly better on fuel. However I changed the maf and plugs and leads at the same time but it defiantly helped. Yh i have the same problem it won't talk I even got someone else to come round with actual vagcom and still nothing. Another thing I thought of is what exhaust you using the whole vr one? I'm using my old gti one and noticed it is running slightly hot.
  20. I had similar problems, swapping from 2ltr gti to vr6 an the fuel pump on the vr is slightly bigger. Yes it may be the same pressure but it is more than likely carry more fuel through at the same pressure as the 1.6 pump. Also have you checked for vacuum leaks and have you checked the pressure regulator? Also have you plugged it into vagcom ? After I did my swap I couldn't get my ecu to talk to the computer and the k line is all plugged in, just wondered if you had any luck with that. ?
  21. Exactly what he said if your gonna do something make sure you do it right and do it once. At a minimum you'll need to raise the head and use stronger bolts. The main reason I haven't gone f/I is the cost it's all the little bits that bring the big bits together.
