  1. i too get these symptoms its very strange im yet to look at the cooler tho.
  2. fair enough ill get saving then, unless i just get rid after today.
  3. i know this is an old post but i did a search and this is the closest i could find.i drained my coolant today ready for the new thermostat as my rad hoses were getting hot and hard, so i thought thermostat stuck closed. anyway once i drained the coolant and looked in the bucket i noticed it had a layer of oil on the top of it. now im suspecting headgasket failure but there wasnt any water in the oil when i did an oil change its just oil in the water. could this be a oil cooler seal or something?
  4. Anyone know of anygood sprayers in or around loughborough. As I have just had a quote of £220 a side, this includes a little welding near the sill, is this a good price?
  5. Yh I have brought one of a fellow vr6oc member is there anyother way of testig the maf?
  6. Leads and plugs are new and coil pack is also I I've changed the maf which to make sure was fine I put it on with the arrow facing forwards opposite the airflow direction and it hardly ran. So I unplaugged the cam sensor and nothing happened unplugged the blue temp sensor and idle raised up so that's working.
  7. Yh from what read I need to wire the kline into the brown ground lead in the fuse box. Well if my cam sensor isn't working that would explain underpowered and bad fuel burn as the spark is weaker so it's running rich which would explain some o the smoke I get. Thanks alot for the info.
  8. Hmm thanks for this I think I need to tap a wire into the ground. A quick question which will help is if I unplug the cam sensor when the engine is running what should happen?
  9. I'm not 100% but I'm sure it was something along those lines yes. What dose this wire look like and where does it run?
  10. K line ? What's this it's obd2 if that helps
  11. Right tonight a friend came round to test my car after my conversion from gti to vr6 (mk3) the lead is getting power because the led light is on but it dosent want to scan, we have taken the radio out, changed the clocks from vr6 to gti back to vr6 still nothing. Does anyone have a picture of the wiring or any ideas what could be causing this.
  12. Well when I first start mine up it idles at around 1k then drops to 8-900 and feels a little lumpy so I have brought a cam sensor just invade it's this and I have a little feeling it could be injector being stuck open or not closing properly causing it to leak fuel and burning it off when i start it up hence high idle and could be loosing some fuel pressure which could be a cause of a slight missfire due to it being starved of fuel, luckily tesco have redex on offer so I brought some will let you know how I get on once it's checked on vagcom and replaced cam sensor. So nex I don't think your w
  13. Haha it's on in a few mins guys
  14. Holy **** that's horrid to look at I'm going to double check mine now. What could of caused this? Incorrect tension? Sorry for the questions but I'm new to the vr world and learning everytime I go out and pop the bonnet.
  15. The wheels aren't my cup o tea but it's your car and you drive it. but it looks like a little minter. how much didnyour k&n set you back?
  16. Yh so do I even if there repeats haha
  17. Anyone here love family guy ? Personally I Find stewie hillarious
  18. Good call I remember when my gti wouldn't start and gave it a tap( a hefty whack tbh) and it fired up. Although afte lr I did the clutch it wouldn't start and I got the 'click' noise like you say which was down to water/ condesation or damp on electrial contacts and a rusty gearbox ground. Replced ground connector and squirted the whole bay with wd40 and it worked. Did the trick for me anyways. Hope this is of some help.
  19. Loom for any air leaks between the maf and throttle body too and also have you cleaned the throttle body?
  20. I had this problem after I did my conversion from 8v gti to vr6 I thought it was just the way it ran but it turned out that the coil pack had broken down inside and was intermittent but it gradually got worse so I took the leads off one by one and turned out 1&6 were dead. New coil pack and safe to say I litterally scared myself with how well it pulled haha. A quick way I learned to check the maf was put it on backwards if it carries on running fine then a new maf it is. If it runs really lumpy then it's working. That's what I did also when was the air filter changed? The k&n that came
