  1. you sure it was deffo a highline (did you check the log book)? could have just been same spec. only downside of obd1 is that they tend to wear out the top 'blade' runner at 100k ish. i suppose a theoretical upside is that theres less sensors so less to go wrong?! if its a good car then buy it.
  2. calm down dear! lol i think the reason no ones answered is that no one really knows....its not a common thing to put on MKIII's. not my cuppa for sure, but the '96 mkIII gti anni's had smoked as standard, so you could try vw. though i'm sure all the usualy places such as awesome gti sell them. check ebay as well.
  3. well, monaro is likely to loose value quicker....i bet they'll be a great second hand buy in a few years. oh, i'd have to get it badged as a holden as well....but its deffo more my cuppa than some audi.
  4. its the alloys that ruin it....a set of motorsport ones in silver would make it much nicer. still too pricey for what it is IMO.
  5. refurb nothing nicer than anni wheels on a mkIII really.
  6. yep, i got the full story from my mate again today...he was doing about 130 indicated, saw the van on the bridge and braked hard, but too late. they didn't pull him, he got a letter sent to him. he also got his boss to write a letter. he just got seven week ban, no points, and about £100 court costs. oh, and the really funny (or stupid) bit is once he'd been to where he was going when he got caught....he then got pulled over at 95mph on the way home and got 3 points. lmao.
  7. well, was an easy mistake, as most people know on here i never bullshit...my typing skills on the other hand! (i blame the keyboard!) lol
  8. i've just read the whole thread...cannot believe how much comment that typo caused! roflmao it was a standard gte, and he got caught bya camera on a bridge...he has the pic so i'll see if i can borrow it and scan it in. its actually quite funny!
  9. ooops! type, meant to be 117mph (i haven't looked at this thread since posting that) my bad! lmao
  10. if you have to change from the standard smoked ones (whcih is a mistake IMO), then go for the smoked crystal ones...not many people do it, but its got that kind of 'standard, but not' look.
  11. i bought car for £3k two years back, spent at least that again....on repairs! grrrr! if only it'd been reliable it'd have a lot more go faster bits on it.

    Mk4 rear seats

erm..i looked into it, but when i popped them in the actual seats were slightly deeper than the mkIII ones so it wouln't look right, unless you don't mind it not quite being factory quality. i reckon take the fabric and cusion over to a mkIII base.

    gutted

i got very very lucky the other week when in the girlie's polo....was doing 95mph with a lexus GS200 behind...thought nothing of it till he put the blues on...thankfully only cause he wanted to come past. you really don't expect a lexus to be a cop do ya tho?! was still sloppy on my part not to notice though. 14. my mate got caught at 177mph and got a 7 week ban...he was in a nova as well, so think you may get away with a tad less, but just depends on the judge.
  15. well, unless its a really old unit it will.
  16. i reckon candle lit KFC for me and the girlfriend. then a bath, then something else
  17. very similar price...about a fiver in it i think.
  18. yeah, they're just better quality justin. the spark plug end of them looks to be very tough (needed in case a stupid mechanic doesn't use the proper tool - that was my reason for having to replace my relatively new black leads for red ones). i reckon the red ones are of most interest to those who have lots of work done on their cars, as they're happier to be pulled off lots. avoid aftermarket performance leads as they're fatter and the little lugs on the lead guides will cut into them.
  19. only '92 cars have dizzy, the rest are all coilpack regardless of which obd they are. we've been trying to work out the exact year of changeoever from obd1-obd2 on here for a while, but i think we've concluded it was kind of fazed in (well, some obd1's may have not been regsitered immediately). as a genral rule upto and inc. M plate are obd1, N plate on is obd2. easiest ways to tell IMO are that obd2 have oval side repeaters, and bigger brakes (they have a spring clip across the caliper, where as earlier/smaller brakes don't)...though these could of course have been added to an early car. but

  21. just go through one of the bungs in the spare wheel well.
  22. i hate bloody idiots like that. it should be illegal to smoke whilst driving. one of my friends also had a shunt today, she stopped in her golf mkIII driver, her friends was behind her in her '04 clio and hit the back of her. i suspect the golf will be written off, where as the clio was barely scratched.

  24. i never liked mkIV's....until i saw this - http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_popup.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=VOLKSWAGEN&model=GOLF&variant=anniversary&keywords=&min_pr=75&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=SL6+7HE&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH&start=6&distance=91&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200450175464552 - how good does it look in red.
