  1. well, its just not very precise thats all....the bentley says that the tool may need help to go in, but on mine it looked like it could have been either way, i.e. it was kinda halfway between two. may have just been mine tho.
  2. i've only ever once had my vr6 properly sideways, and that was in stoke...one the same roundabout as the girlie had her 'moment' on. its the one where you come down from keele uni towards newcastle. was mega easy to catch tho with a quick application of throttle. one of lorna's friends was behind and said it looked mega spectacular. lol
  3. just check, double check, and triple check that the timing is spot on before you start it. the bottom end is quite easy to get spot on, but the top sometimes seems like it needs to be between teeth...the car will probably be safe either way but will not run right one way.
  4. is slippy in stoke apparantly, my girlfriend told me she had a big understeer moment in stoke the other day in her polo. glad she's been listening to me and didn't lift off violently. we've been pretty fortunate down here, up until today the roads were bone dry.
  5. in sonning...called automotive solutions, use yell.com to find addie and phone no. and ask for tony. he not only knows a lot about vr6's (he has a vr6 mkII van), but is very competetively priced.
  6. have had a small problem when selling a headlamp on ebay. basically i the headlamp arrived at its destination as broken. i had paid for postal insurance, but having spoken to their customer services they say glass is covered (nice of them not to tell me that in advance - apparantly its in a booklet at the PO) anyway, so the chances of claiming for the item are going to be slim. i did put a disclaimer in my ad, but not sure whats gonna happen. i can't afford to refund the other person, and don't want this to get messy. what would you do? heres the ad - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie
  7. no...go to a specialist who knows vr6's. i know of one near reading.
  8. what a mess. how to ruin a vr6 in a few easy steps.
  9. yeah, will prob be an un-economical repair...but you could fix it if you really wanted to.
  10. you gonna show us the pics so we can assess the damage? also be a warning to others to be careful of the slippy roads we have at the mo.
  11. could be a cracked exhaust...or could be just the air intake gasping for air!
  12. no idea what they are but they are supposed to be there.
  13. yeah, ignore any that ask you to call back or text back. i had a good one on my landline the other day...women saying i'd won a 7 day cruise, i asked 'wahst the catch then', she said nothing then rambled on before saying all you have to do is pay a £50 admin fee...i said, theres your catch you lieing biatch, and hung up! lol
  14. not good, but i echp the sentiments above. what happened? is it a write off or can it be repaired?
  15. i'll double check those tonight....thats for an obd2 car i presume pete. remember the top chain parts are different for obd1's. i got my stuff from ecp, half the price of vw for identical parts. i'll dig out the invoice later as well.
  16. no idea but don't get it wrong or it will screw the ECU.
  17. any alarm supplier should be able to do it for you.
  18. and if vw told you that you could fly would you believe them?! lol
  19. yeah, i think you'll find if you pull it apart that there is some cracks or broken off bits where the join is.
  20. my '93 doesn't. maybe a 'rado/golf difference.
  21. whats up with your wishbones? are the rear bushes starting to come out by any chance? happens to most vr6's eventually. he's right to say get them done first as it will prob fail next MOT on them anyway, and then you'd have to get your camber done again. so he's actually tryin to save you money, where as he could have just done it then got more money out of you when it needs re-doing. the reason your car is not tracking correctly is the fact the camber is off, not cause of the damage...but it will fail the next MOT anyway, o best get it done. the ARB links are less of an issue, and very easy t
  22. get the front off....absolutely everything is easier to do without it there, and as mark says it is piss easy to get off, unless you have aircon.
