  3. Ive just replaced my glovebox handle and it was a nice easy 4 quid item off ebay, I cant think of any others Ive had off the top of my head, usually ive had huge jobs with hundreds on the end bill lol. Ickyketseddie says he managed to fix his armrest catch with a £1.50 part. Whats a good cheap little fix youve done that gave a good satisfying result?

  5. Won my golf for peanuts off of eBay and the main reason was the clutch was f/^ck=d and it turned out to be the nylon bushes on the clutch pedal, £1.38 plus vat and 20 mins of laying under the dash and swearing later all sorted!! ;-)

    Max rebore size

Sorry have been away for a while. Thanks for the info, well most of the engine got stolen out of my garage last year am just replacing it so no need to bore it now, as cylinder walls are sound, need to still get pistons tho. Thankfully the turbo was not with it. Its got the hotside from the evo on it, internal wastegate etc. Was going to stick with that as made a manifold and downpipe for a TD05 on my 1.8t but it wasn't easy. So will change it the divided T4, much easier to fabricate. I hope lol

    My Black Magic VR6

Yes mostly expensive downs, look on the bright side, when you've replaced everything it'll be pretty much a brand new car as a sum of it's parts, then hopefully a good few years of trouble free (ish) motoring

  23. Alright lads this weekend I got myself a AAA vr6 engine for cheapish but turns out iv paid to much after taking the head off. I got it not having a clue about condition and took a punt on it. it's been in storage for a unknown amount of time. Iv now had chance to inspect it, it won't turn over and after getting the head off I can see why, the bores are slightly pitted and it's frozen solid. Is it worth trying to rescue the engine filling the bores with WD40 or similar ( iv been told coke ) or just write it off. I intend on a full build for the turbo (apart from pistons and rebore) but not s

  25. Yeah I no what your saying and it could be a case if doing this. I could keep the bottom end and have a rebore and go forged like I was going to do in a few years time but I'm saying the head is shit. I might keep the bottom ebd have that built and then use the head from the car I'll be buying. I just think the damage to the head is not worth sorting it looks like it's taken in part of a spark plug BUT was not present when I opened it up so guessing they removed it and ran it like it is. I don't think it's worth risking £1k worth of pistons and rods for the sake of a new head Sent from m

  27. My feeling is, if your engine had simply been suffering from prolonged storage you would be OK (the coke trick is worth remembering, good shout). But the issues are starting to mount up, and you have to wonder what sort of life the engine's had, who's fixed it (and to what standard) and why it was put into storage in the first place? Credit to anyone who mends things instead of replacing them, but I would be tempted to just turn it into a Top Gear-style coffee table.

  28. Its worth trying to un-seize it. The rust etc might come out with a hone, Worst case is it'll need boring. Fill the bores with Coca-cola (Pepsi wont do)

  31. I would recommend not removing the stock oil/water 'cooler' We sell a tube that allows you to fit the stock 'cooler' along with a sandwich plate. This way it is not possible for the oil to be cooled below the factory specifications and it allows the water to be heated by the oil during the warm up of the engine.

  33. Well played on the welding mate! Guess it should be good as it is your trade mind Really is coming along. If i can ask though, what wheels are these? As they look really good and suit the car well. Looking forward to this progressing, especially the recces shorting.
