Late spec 16v and vr6 these are from. There black cloth recaros, don't think they have a special name, the patten on them might have a name but I'm unsure sorry. Most people just list them as VR6 black cloth Recaros. As you can also get grey recaros from a 16v. Then the other types of cloth recaros are edition one cloth, in red, green or blue. Colour concept leather, in red, blue, green, yellow and black.

To cut back paint or laqucer and remove swirls and restore, you need a decent compound pad. The likes of halfords pads, and most bought locally are to soft for cutting back. There okay for polishing, but no cutting back. I use a menzerna compound pad, and merguiars dimond cut 2.0 cutting compound. Work small sections at a time, I divide the bonnet in to 3 sections, each door 3 sections, (top section above and around window, middle of door and bump strip, bottom of door below bump strip), Roof in to 5 sections (4 squares at the back, and one section that goes around the side

New engine in, and totally back together. New oil and filter, new gearbox oil, new power steering fluid. Fill up with deionised water to test for water leaks first. I will drain it next weekend and fill with correct coolant. Apart from one of the sensors in thermostat housing, no leaks, that just need a new O-ring. Happy with that. Had a cam sensor issues, swaped it for a spare cam sensor I had that I knew was working, and still had same error, took the ECU out to test the wires, between the ECU plug and cam sensor plug. Everything was fine on the power and pulse wires, so it

Cheers buddy, yeah they are becoming more and more rare, mulberry highlines. Why I wanted to save it even thou it had a dodgy engine. Instead of the guy breaking it for parts.

Pete's OBD2 Corrado VR6 - On The Road
c00k replied to VR6Pete's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
Just after the throttle body, the vacuum that would of gone to the PCV and Evap. But both of mine were deleted and removed, so it was spare and a nice short route in to cabin. Mines OBD2 thou, not sure it that's where you ISV would be connected, I'm OBD2 mainly lol. It's a rather large vacuum connector, so I stepped it down. 8mm if I remember rite, think I stepped it down to 4mm. Can't remember 100% Location and route of hose I went through the drivers side of the rain tray, I did have to drill a small hole, quickly painted it and put a grommet around edge, so the hose -

Reassembling 97 Jetta vr6 (someone else's project)

That holes for the inlet temperature sensor. There should be a small vacuum hose connector next to it as well. Inlet temprature sensor goes to inlet temprature plug. And vacuum pipe gose to fuel regulator. -
Removed the old engine. Spend quite some time cleaning up both chassis legs. Covered all the loom in some black conduit while I had easier access to it. Refurbished the front cross member while still on car, plus fitted new engine mounts. Re-conditioned engine going in. More to come soon...

Refurbished injector bar, new gearbox mount, refurbished center section from front engine mount, in zinc primer and 2K gloss black. Custom front engine mount. Using a polyurethane insert, 2 hockey pucks and extented 12.9 high tensile bolts. Used my old injectors out of my other back VR, as I had them ultrasonicly cleaned, plus they were rebuilt with new baskets and o-rings not long ago. Also used my spare air con water pump pulley. Colour coded in 2k to the same as the car. Refurbished the rest of the pulleys and colour coded them.

Thermostate housing, in Ali. So they won't crack or break on the inner lip. I know you can already get metal ones, but there about 300, and made in the states I think. So wonder how much they would be from China.

It's a vacuum purge solenoid, it's meant to help with fuel trimming on UK VR's I belive. There common on a lot of VW engines, but from my understanding there mainly used for EGR (exsaugh gas recirculating) valves, or SAI (secondary air injection) but UK spec VR don't have either of these. Where US spec do have them. So on UK VR's it can only be used for fuel trimming from my knowledge. Also so yours looks like it's missing the top cap / cover over the circular section.

P0068 error - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16452/P0068/000104 P0101 error - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16485/P0101/000257 I think you may have a fault MAF or MAP sensor. But before buying new sensors, I would clean inside the throttle body, aswell as the top neck of the inlet manifold. As the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) will take oil vapor in to these, and over a period of time it can build up causing the throttle body and intake manifold to get all oil and residue on the inside. After cleaning if you know some -
Welcome along buddy

Went out for a nice drive in the black VR, now that I've finished all the new water system, and oil cooler set up, and run much cooler, I may swap back to the original fan switch, instead of the low temp switch. As the fans are almost constantly on, and they don't need to be, now I have the bigger rad and external oil cooler. Temporarily using a spare de-badged grill I had, while I re-paint my original grill.

The replacement engine I bought, OBD2, none air con, 98K. I will have to swap over all the air-con stuff as I want to keep it on this car, I may even fit climatronic at a later date. Started work on it straight away, First thing, was hand cranking it over, with spark plugs still fitted, to see if engine gets stiffer and harder to turn, this ment the engine is building compression. Next I removed the spark plugs and hand cranked engine over good few times, listing for knocks or rattels. I like to remove the spark plugs to do this as it makes the engine

96 vr6 1st ever project build thread,

No there slightly bigger, but neither are huge. This is one of mine, It's 1/4" NPT version, so smallest they make. you can also get bigger 3/8". yes I run a water trap, plus I have an electric drain valve on the tanks, so I just press a button on the dash, and it dumps any water from the tanks out under the rear floor. I'd recommend a manual drain vale on the tank as a minimum, or make an electric one your self isn't to hard, I made mine easily. There's no off the shelf kits for an electric one. Reason I went for an electric one, was to save lifting u -

96 vr6 1st ever project build thread,
c00k replied to bennyk's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
Yeah definitely, lots of tweaking, upgrading, detecting air leaks and weak points, hopefully not to many..... Let the fun times roll haha. I'd also recommend SMC check valves, ditch the vi-air ones, you should be running two of them, one on each compressor. I went through 4 of the vi-air ones before buying the SMC versions. They kept either getting stuck open or closed. Either way they wouldn't work. Vi-air braided lines, compressors, guages are all really good, but for some reason I found there check valves to be completely shit! -
Cheers dude I run ECS adaptors, ordered from the states. 25mm all round.

So long as the air lines don't pinch or get squashed by the rear axel they should be fine, i'd also use swivel fittings on the front bags to help with the movement from the steering. If you already haven't. If I was my car I'd have a small braided hoses with swivel fitting on both front bag, abit like the hoses on the compressors. It's comming along thou buddy! -
First photo of my Two VR's together. Not the best photo, but I had both of them out on weekend, and had to take one Many more photos of these pair coming when the nicer weather gets here!

Don't twin turbo it. Not in my opinion anyway. It can be done, but it's more meant for V6 and V8's with twin cylinder heads and 45 degree Pistons. So many issues with balancing turbos and getting them set up identical as they run in to the same cylinder head on VR's and any engine with single cylinder head. Turbo and supercharged now that's different story this can be done, but you need to select both chargers very carefully for it to work well. As lots of people are mislead when it comes to superchargers... the different types of supercharger. And how the different t

If it was for a mk3 I may be able to help, but im guessing it's for a Jetta or what we call a bora over here, from you name and profile pic. Might be helpfully to people if you mentioned what car and engine it's on dude. As I know they made Jetta's in the US with both VR6 12v, and VR6 24v. Sorry I couldn't be more help buddy.
