Not much has happened to this lately, as I've been working to much on my mulberry daily. But I'm back on it this weekend, uprated fuel pump on order, hopefully be here by the weekend. VDO oil pressure gauge, VDO volt gauge, being fitted this weekend. Air / fuel gauge going to be ordered soon, already have a spare wide band mount in exhaust. Think I'm going to get an innovate LC2. Still thinking I may remove the rear seats, even if I only take them out temporally, to see it I like it or not.

Looks smart, like the wheels. Nice colour too

Cheers buddy, yeah it not a bad car now the reconditioned engine is in. It's just my run about.

Got abit slow on updates, Did most of this few weeks ago. High flow cat fitted, and a Bosch lamba sensor fitted at same time, rather than a cheap copy as that's what came fitted to car. Cheap lambas can make an engine run like shit. Re-aligned the throttle body, and re-set the the lamba learned values and lamba ageing in vag-com. Changed the head unit, so I can use my SDHC cards. May change the speakers in it soon. Havent really done much else apart from driving it. No oil leaks, no water leaks on replacement engine. It's running spot on at the m

Strut Bolts : What a Bargain!!
c00k replied to jaks14's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
There high tensile bolts, i've replaced almost every bolt in my engine bay with them, and loads on the rest of the car. except internal nuts and bolts. As some of these need to be stretch bolts, or specialised nuts and bolts. If I remember right the strut bolts are M12. A little tip paint the head on the black ones. As you may find the head rust, as there only chemically blacken. Not zinc coated like original bolts. And used copper grease on the thread to stop that from rusting. You can get them in different strength bolts as well. 4.8 high ten -
Looks clean buddy, any future plans for it?

How did it run dude? -
Can we get custom ones made? As I'd like one, but I want the text to be red. So it's red and black to match my car. (Logo can be same colour)

Could make the converter plates your self, 8 holes, 4 of them tapped to M6, 4 of them resscessed. 76mm hole saw for large Center hole. Cut the out side shape with an angle grinder. Plillar drill would be best for drilling, plus very accurate measurement and centre punching. or any machining or metal fabricators should be able to make them easily.

Strange noise coming from diff/driveshafts | Help please!
c00k replied to mk3vrlouis's topic in Transmission
Worn hubs or drive shaft cups on gear box. Has the car been lower quite abit? If the cars lowered a lot it could be anti-roll bar catching the chassis, lower arms hitting the sub frame. -
Depends how far you want to go, reinforce clutch fork, new arp diff bolt while the box is off, but would need splitting. did the engine chains have any rattles before? If so maybe change all 3 tensioners while the box is off and can get easy access to bottom chain cover.

I'd use vag-com or an OBD2 scanner to look for errors on ECU. Sounds like you have a sensor problem. Could be MAF like mentioned above, but could also be either of the knock sensors. Either way what ever sensor is playing up should show up on a diagnostic scan from vag-com or an OBD2 scanner. There are also manual ways to go around and test each sensor with a muilt meter, checking the wires for a live power feed, checking resistant and ohms of sensors, then check the resistant of the ground wire. On each sensor. This can be tedious and t

If it was a very bad leak and it also loosing pressure as well as oil, I wouldn't be putting my foot down. Oil may not be reaching all parts of the engine if to low pressure. So yes they can make the buzzer go off, but usually only when the low pressure sensor kicks in. So your either very very low on oil causing low oil pressure. Causing the buzz to kick in. or you losing oil pressure when under heavy load. Causing the buzz to kick in. Or you have a fault low pressure sensor. But due to the oil leak I would put it down to either of the above.

There are difference between early and late spec VR, easiest way to tell is by the indicators on the wings. early have square indicators, late have oval indicators. Lower arms and anti roll are one of the differences, Also the brakes and hubs, early 280mm late 288mm, plus several other differences.

my mk2 vr6 supercharged show car to track toy (PIC HEAVY)

You most probably don't want to read or hear this, but it's worth knowing.... I would check the small oil holes, on bottom of the camshaft bearing (which are called the camshalfs saddle I believe) Each camshaft saddle should have it's own oil feed hole, with the two either end of the cylinder head having grooves. One of these could have become blocked from the debbry from the old broken con rod bearing, or other junk and crap. VR6's (plus many other cars) run on these 'plane' style bearings. They work by the shaft floating on a thin film of oil, using the hydroplane principle -

I know the feeling of being stabbed by them. Also don't cut braided hoses with a saw buddy, all the end's fray like mad. Even if you do tape it up. Use a decent pair of heavy duty snips. Or a braided hose cutter. Thats how I cut mine anyway, I learnt not to uses a saw after making my first one. -
They sound amazing on ITB's!! but it will make less power than turbo.

Gutted for you mate, like you said it not common for a camshalf to snap in the middle like that. I wouldn't be impressed either, hopefully they will replace shaft for free. -

Nice man, braided hoses are much better There not to hard to make your self, with slight different fittings. You could of made them with a vice, AN fittings, and a spanner. It's not to hard, I've made loads for my air ride, external oil cooler, power steering. -
Will all be worth it in the end buddy, keep at it. also I spy with my little eye something being with 'M'? MG midget. My uncle had an MG B GT.
