Hi, i found that drilling the box increases intake noise, i bought a 2nd hand one and did it. i wouldn't remap until you have major work done cams, turbo etc.. and lastly see my post on terracleaning, i found it quite good. http://www.vr6oc.com/forum/topic/40991-anyone-terracleand-opinionsreviews-and-locations/good luck with whatever you do.s

Hi Mate, what fault code is it throwing? if its rear you can check pump\ecu by clearing the code, lifting the rear seats you will find the 2 sensors N\S and O\S swap them round (dont forget to put them back!) if the code throws on the same wheel (after swap) then its pump\ecu. you can get the ecu refurbed at BBA reman, mine was about £125 a few years ago. good luck steve

Hi mate, i believe you have to modify the blocks direct via vag-com, which a basic scanner wont do. get a usb cable from the Bay and download vagcom and follow these instructions. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vw_sri.html cable £8 software free laptop? have fun. steve -

Hi, when you get it fitted make sure they reconnect the vacuum pipe, its for recirc or something and you need to remove from old one and fit to the new one. i only found this out after mine was done and i 'found' a vacuum pipe! it should be under the pipes going into the firewall. good luck steve

Hi Mate, do you mean program the chip in a new key, or key to alarm\immobiliser? i have a Toad and to program a key you need the PIN then do ignition on\off 3 times in 7 seconds, then count number of flashes - match to 1st digit of PIN (eg 1st number of PIN 4, count four flashes then off and on, 2nd digit 6, six flashes off and on etc...) if its just the chip in a new key a 'friendly' key cutter should be able to read and program the chip from the old key. my main dealers quoted over £100 and i had to take ID and allsorts, local cutter £28 while i waited. hope this is of use. steve

AIT swap from 1.8t wiring colours

Hi, i believe that the temp sensors are just thermistors, so it shouldnt matter which way the polarity is, if you have Vag-com you can see what the readings are. good luck steve -
hi, you take a feed from the power to the other solenoid connection. i used the same one that i spliced to power the switch. good luck s

Hi, thanks for the replies. in regards to age im pushing 43 and quite understand the smile on the face for the sound, the VR was standard when i got it and i have spent a lot on the engine (currently 212HP) its just i cant justify £1500 for a spray when some git could (and has) smack it. i may just go for a rat look and take the hit on sale. thanks for the replies. steve

Hi All, as the title suggests, how far do you go with a 18 year old car? i ask this because i have just been quoted £1500 for a tidy up and respray, i love the VR to bits but after a new year hit and run which did the rear door and needing some small rust patches fixed here and there which apparently need the whole panel done (dragon green) im am beginning to wonder as all it needs is some w@nker to hit it again and i will be gutted! the resale value doesnt warrant it even with the Schrick etc.... who's in the same boat? thanks for looking steve
