  1. Quick update, got my schrick gaskets for $35 delivered from Germany, no customs declaration nothing. So pay in dollars and no import duty or vat! Result! S
  2. Hi Mate, where were you looking at getting the coating done? Zircoflex do it over here, the guys in the states swear by it and can get it done for peanuts, over here I don't know. There is a local firm near me and I will get a quote for my schrick and give you an idea, won't be for a few weeks though. S
  3. How about this for a simple twin scroll?
  4. Hi All, looking at fitting a Schrick soon and need to do the plugs at the same time. the BKR5EKUP are recommended but i have found some Brisk ones for less money (http://www.lpg-kits.com/plugsVolkswagen.htm) if anyone has experience let me know. cheers steve
  5. found some good pics on ebay.de dont know if they are what you want. http://www.ebay.de/itm/VR6-Turbo-Abgaskrummer-Stosaufladungskrummer-Krummer-/250878081470?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item3a697fb9be good luck steve
  6. Hi, I'm looking at buying from the above .com, has anyone used them? I wanted to know the score with vat and import duty. They are a Canadian company, so you pay in us or Canada dollars but they ship from Germany. In theory no vat and customs? Any pointers would be great. Cheers Steve
  7. Hi mate, it's actually more than the SP short. I have seen loads of speculation but no facts for NA and the SP mani, one person on vortex posted 20whp. I would need to move TB possibly move the battery as they come for LHD only but would be good to go turbo in future ;-) Just found out the US mani is in fact a VGI so £800 for a VGI, is it worth it? At least it wouldn't be wasted money, last one on the bay went for more than a grand! Cheers Steve
  8. Hi All, got the chance of a VSR from the states for £800 Delivered, question is do i wait for a VGI or go with the VSR? only difference is the runner length on the VGI (and plug access) can anyone tell me if that makes much of a difference. i know the FI guys will pitch in but i want to stay NA and i promise this is the last thing i will do to the car!!!!! cheers steve
  9. Hi Mate, i am looking at the same thing, my stick has more wobble than a bowl of jelly! i have ordered a set of these, they wont be here for a week or two but when fitted i shall report. http://www.verdictmotorsports.com/VW_Audi_Shift_Bracket_Bushings_p/0100.htm cheers s

  11. Hi Mate, got the both sides 985/986 from the local vw dealers for £80 all in, let me kn ow how you get on as my drivers side is about 1/2 inch too long (sticks out a little in rear arch) same as these but a lot cheaper!!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Mk3-VR6-GTI-Side-Skirt-Top-Sill-Cover-Strip-OEM-VW-Worldwide-Shipping-/161071355918?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item258099d80e good luck. steve
  12. Dry in minutes, literally 8-10 drops on a make up pad did the spoiler, did it end to end and buffed. It supposedly bonds rather than dresses, we shall see. There are a couple of vids on YouTube. I will pic the rest of car and post tomorrow, also what's left in bottle. Leave my Sunday socks alone! ;-) thank god you can only just make the sandals!I was and still am dubious, I will see how the handles wear as they are constant use. I reckon you could do all the exterior 3 times (just) with 15 ml. Cheers Steve
  13. Hi All, i have been fed up with the tatty plastic on the VR so after some research i bought some gtechniq trim restorer, i will have to see how long it lasts but here are some before and after. at £22 for 15ml its expensive, i have used a 3rd of a bottle to do front/rear valance, spoiler, side sill moldings, handles and mirror surrounds so it goes a long way! all the plastic was washed, scrubbed and alcohol cleaned but i could have been a bit more thorough. i think spoiler may need another coat but your opinions are welcome. thanks for looking steve
  14. New series 16th September 9pm, not seen the trailer but this episode guide http://www.discoveryuk.com/web/fifth-gear/episode-guide-new-series/ says about classics that will be worth money (Ep2) maybe a Raddo? just found this its a volkswizard car apparently
  15. Hi all, it's been 3 months and a OC rolling road day since I had this done and thought I would pop in a quick update - 1, Power - AFAIK nothing/minimal, up 2 bhp at RR day but this could be anything, better fuel, conditions etc. seems to pick up quicker but that could be the placebo of a lighter wallet ;-) 2, Emissions - as per earlier post awesome, halved at least. If yours are bad, 120 quid it's well worth it 3, MPG - difficult to answer, soon after I put a 3.68 FD in, cruising @80 and 4000 rpm, I was getting 28 (reset mfa and constant ish for 10 mins) Holy sh1t I thought, so put in a diesel
  16. hi mate, try ebay.de there seems to be a lot, search for "vr6 Ansaugbrücke" no VAT or import duty. hope you get lucky. regards steve
  17. Hi, i have just had the same setup as thrusterman fitted and cant fault it, livens up the ride no end. not too low and goes round corners now! got springs from Germany for £95 delivered. steve
  18. Hi Mate, by reg its an ODB1. easiest way is pop the bonnet and follow the spark plug leads, if they attach to round plastic dome (distributor) its ODB1 if they attach to an oblong block (coilpack) then its ODB2. also i think there is a thread on here on how to tell the difference hope this helps Steve
  19. Hi All, am thinking of using a dial kit to spruce up the clocks on the VR, these are on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK3-160MPH-PLASMA-GLOW-WHITE-DIALS-/250851877739?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a67efe36b has anyone used them and are they any good? what kits do you have and what was fitting them like? cheers steve
  20. ok thanks therust, i have looked at the AVS spares site and they list the same part for both GTI and VR6 (oem sachs) so i will get the GTI ones. thanks again steve
  21. Hi All, apparently the springs are designed for standard shocks so all good. my next question is is there a Bilstein B4 that will fit the VR? according to Bilstein website the answer is no they start at B6! do/has anyone run B4's on the VR? if so which ones the GTI or the TDI ones? cheers steve
  22. Hi Guys, am after suggestions as to shocks for the above spring kit, its 30-35mm lower than standard. can i keep the standard? i need to swap one as its leaking on the front do i go for uprated? and which ones? also i am getting the clunk (in reverse) and will get the topmounts done as well while its all off is there anything else that should be done? cheers for the replies. Steve
  23. cool, ordered for £36 all in, airbag and clock spring too! cheers for the pics. steve
  24. Hi All, as per a lot of people my VR wheel is falling apart. The Cabrio Mk3.5 will fit but these appear to be as rare as rocking horse do-do, from doing some research on the interweb it looks like a Lupo or Polo Gti (6n2) will fit direct, has anyone done this and what does it look like? thanks for looking and big thanks to Pete for the RR day at stealth. cheers steve
