  1. Welcome to the club mate! There is a guide on here, for replacing the heater matrix, which tony made. This covers dash removal, so should help you out. :-)
  2. Went to this a few years back, and it was an good show. Can't make it this time though :-(
  3. Nice 1! Was the clutch faulty? Or are you going for another make to see if that stands up to the boost?
  4. How did you manage to 'loose' the splines?? :-)
  5. You don't have to strip the old paint off. Scotch brite the top layer, to allow the new paint to stick to something, that should be fine. Use panel wipe before you spray so there isn't grease or dirt left, then spray!
  6. I'm still going (and Katie), even if every1 pulls out. Its going to be a sort of holiday too, never been up that part of europe!
  7. I've done it too an a3 1.8t, so should be similar! There's quite a bit of work involved, and a fair few parts. You'll need a gearbox, clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, clutch hyd' line, master cylinder, possibly a different pedal box or just a clutch pedal, gear shifter, gear knob and gaitor, different plastic trim around the shifter, possibly different driveshafts, possibly a new engine ecu + clocks + keys, sort the wiring out. I think thats about it! How keen are you now?? :-)
  8. Sorted. :-) Are you just bonding them back in? Or are you screwing them in?

As above. The spring rate will be different accross the mk3 range, from the 4 pot lumps, to the bigger, heavier vr lump. Try then and see what they are like. Oh, and welcome to the club!! :-)
  10. I personally don't have any experience with auto boxes, but i know there are a few members on here that have them, 1 of which is Calico, he might be able to help you with some advise.
  11. I should have written that' date=' perfect summary! :-) [/quote'] Yes, it was slightly suspect! ;-)
  12. Ah, well done benny boy! Same they are both in the scrap heap in the sky. Um, great write up Helen, but you've put Ben's age as 18??? Is this true??? :-)
  13. How many miles has the box done? I've heard somewhere that they can become troublesome and require a re-build after a certain mileage.
  14. Sorry mate' date=' if the situation changes and i can be around then ill be there but looking like i cant so will say no for now. [/quote'] Oh no. Hope everythings ok.
  15. Thank you for the get well wishes. My hand is better, but not perfect. Only today have i used my hand, without the splint on, for a full day at work. I've been at work for the past couple of weeks, only doing 1 handed bits an pieces, but it felt good today to finally let my hand loose! The only issue now is the pain and lack of movement i've got, but that should all improve with time. I'm hopefully going to flat the car off in the evenings this week, ready for the final coats of paint on sunday. :-)
  16. I like mate. It does look better with its 'proper' front end on. Why not stick the vrt lump in??? :-)
  17. Lucky bugger. All that beach, and getting paid for it. More importantly, how many times is it going to break down on the way home? You don't get HMS AA do ya!? :-)
  18. Lol! Well done though mate. Top job :-)
  19. Katie used to think i was 'sad', until i bought her a vr! ;-)
  20. Congrats fella. Glad your feeling better, and on the road to a full recovery. :-)
  21. Good idea mate. How does ya misses feel about you pimping yourself out when you get back? :-) But seriously, if anyone wants some great tuition, then stick ya name down!
  22. Can you add katies name to the list please, she'll be coming an she'll get involved! Not even thought about present buying yet, will have a think at the weekend...
