If Tesco has 99ron then that's higher than Optimax which I am certain is 98ron. There are a couple of products about which raise the ron rating by a few points, basically octane boosters. I've used them on past cars and it seems to work but means you have to add it with every tank full which isn't cheap (

If the A3 was 4wd then things would be alot worse as the Haldex unit weighs a considerable amount. I think it's all relative, if you're in the right gear at the right revs... when the turbo on a 1.8T kicks in you do that that sudden boost. Also, Jezza said 'the A3 just isn't a Golf'. I'm not sure what vein he meant that in i.e. the A3 is better than a Golf or vice versa but yes an A3 1.8T is basically a Mk4 Golf Gti (1.8T) with a different shell and interior. I beleive there a 4 flavours of 'sporting' A3: 1.8T (150bhp); 1.8T Quattro (180bhp 4WD), S3 (1.8T with 215 or 225bhp & 4WD) and the

My first and first project car. Mk3 Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia, 3 door. Black with horrible chrome, windup windows, 4 x 4 suspension, light grey interior, light grey dashboard. Which became a true monster (for its time). 1905cc Specialized Engines Stage 2 engine, close ratio box with LSD, 90bhp nitrous shot, stainless zorst with 4" recessed tailpipe, MC Rallying Genini body kit (suntle cossy type kit without the whale tail), 16" deep dish rims, dechromed, orange peel black, Complete Mk4 RS Recaro interior and electrics (wondows, sunroof, central locking), Koni adjustable suspension, tarox braking sy

Have a chat with Nik Saran, Stealth Reacing and Ultimate Tune. All would agree that up to 280/300bhp no internal mods or gearbox replacement are required on a healthy engine. Anything above that figure or on an unhealthy engine/gearbox, then yes, work might well be needed.

Yes, I'm sure that's a Panda too. Looks like a Fiat badge on the front too? Jezza, time to let her go man. Sounds like she's turning into the dreaded CHAV! It won't stop there mate. Next come the burberry accesorries and the obligatory reaboks and a vast collection of tack suits. The she'll start talking about kids and the ideal family car, an Astra, or a Vextra even. You'll then spend your pipe smoking days driving an Omega! Act now before it's tooooo late

Agree with Mtth76, 'more cool to cruise' and cheaper too

If the arches rub on the tyres constantly they could begin to eat at the rubber which aint good :?

Shail, that's kind of what I meant... in a round about way I wouldn;t be confident that you got all of it but then I've never heard of this method. I was however thinking of something similar to suck up overfills which can potentially damage the CAT.

tell me about it. mine goes in for timing chains and tensioner tomorrow. If the warranty company wriggle out of it like I think they will then I have to cough up

I can't see that it would extract 'all' of the oil. Draining ensure that the crud has a better chance of draining out also. The extraction method may leave residue and old oil behind?

Why is it that some deivers turn into absolute morons when it rains?!
TVR6 replied to TVR6's topic in General Chat
Of course, it makes sound sense from a financial and resource view point to go after an easy, pliable, submissive target than to pursue the harder ones! ~ That way you not only increase the money made but your crime fighting statistics look that much better on paper. Where's the reward for driving carefully? Your insurance premium still goes up each year despite not claiming and it has become a text book answer to tell the consumer that it's the governments fault and premiums have gone up across the board which roughly translated, reads: 'Look, it goes up each year, you know that so why comp -
I think Silverline hit the proverbial nail when he said: "if its causing a struggle then it takes the fun out of owning such a car" That and the fact that comfortable living and financial security are of more importance than a car.

Next Car: S3 or R32 Wouldn't mind an M3 or 330i Top of the class: Aston DB9 or Carerra GT

and they're usually the rough type (sorry to stereo type) but the worst ones are your archetypal hard man who drives a big wagon and couldn't give a sh*t, He'll also gladly pull after after almost killing you and smack you in the mouth or batter you with a handy weapon, just for beeping. There was a nasty attack in Hayes (Middx) a few years ago where some chap flashed/beeped someone for cutitng in. They all piled out of the car and battered him senseless with metal piping and he practically lost the use of his legs. A year on (I think) he dies from some huge infection in his legs as result of -

Yes but blatantly driving at 50 with a mobile cardled in your ear. I saw it plain and clear and so did the cop, he looked two or three times and then just carried on driving. -
*** Top Tip *** The tailpipes will alomst certainly discolour but a good metal polish always brings it back to the original finish without scratching

Wow, what have I started?! I've created a monster &| Good to hear from so many like minded inviduals. I said in anotehr thread that VR6 owners seem to come from the 'nicer' side of life and this just proves it. Good to see so many West Londener's too. I live in Heathrow, just a stones throw from Craig and Amit 'Hey Guys!' and would have to agree that our manor has become overrun by absolute pr*cks and it's getting worse. I watched a traffic cop drive past a Merc with a woman on her mobile yesterday. He glanced over and did nothing! I know that if i had exceeded the speed limit by a few -

What's even more annoying, is that whilst the more responsible of us ure doing are best not to smash into the back of these morons, we're also having to check our rear view mirrors and all around us to make sure that any action we do take i.e. sudden braking, doesn't end up causing someone else to pile into the back of us. And all while the inconsiderate pr*ck who started it all continues about his or her journey. It particularly gets to me when I have my little daughter in the car with me. Perish the thought but God help anyone that causes an accident whilst I have my little girl with me. I w -

Sorry guys, I'm too lazy to read the whole thread so don;t know if Spax have been mentioned or not? I was originally considering a set. The add looks great, the engineering sounds superb, they have recommended fitting agents and alife time warranty, they have a German TUV rating and they're reasonably priced. What more could you ask for? I contacted TSR and Stealth amongst others who told me they;ve stopped dealing with them as they have serious quality control issues and the warranty is pretty difficult to claim on. Another local agent (Torque Developments, I think) told me that they issues w

F*CK F*CK F*CK!!! Pootling along in a 50 observing the speed limit and warming her up nicely (the car) and some pr*ck pulls right in front of me at the last moment, I brake hard and thank God for ABS. The moron shoots me a dirty look when I beep and flash him! I'm now on the A4 heading to London when some arse swings from the left lane in front of me to over take a bus, narrowly missing me. Again I hit the brakes and the ABS does it's job. I flash and beep and he extends me the middle finger! 300/400 yards down the road, 3 lanes merge into 2, this is where everyone battles to get in front but

Slim, I take it you've driven one? A Type R? They do have torque buy like the Toyota twin cam engines, the real power is in the upper band. True, a properly driven VR from standstill will take a Type R out but then you have to be lucky to be at standstill or at optimum revs otherwise the Type R may well take the VR. The VTECH engine is an impressive peice of engineering. It is economical (for the performance) powerful, and practically bullet proof. It is one of the few engines to consistantly provide high levels of performance without exceeding the emissions levels. Unfortunatly, the law insis
